hi all as above i have a unused scope and wonder if its up to the job for the new 17 i am getting. The image is perfect but it has no mill dots just a fine cross hair . Does any one else use this scope or shall i just sell it or swap it for something more suitable .i under stand it all depends what distance i would be using it over but having a 17 means longer distances :yp: Also what would this be worth its unused and still in its box reg m1 :good:

Don't know about its value but you should be ok with that spec scope. I use a Simmons 3(?)x10 on my hmr and works a treat-i've never really wanted more magnification. Mil-dots in my opinion arent needed so much with the hmr because of its flat trajectory. :good:

I have a Simmons Pro-Hunter 3-10 X 44 on my .243 and I can not fault it for value for money or for the optical quality. It is clear as a bell, the zero never shifts and it works well on the lamp. OK I might well be better off with something like a S&B or a Swaro but I have to settle for what I can get until I can afford something better and this scope does a perfect job for what is basically a "budget" scope! I would be delighted to have another to fit on my 17HMR!

I have something similar on an old .308 F class (type) rifle. Is a Simmons and I think its 3-9 x 40. It works beautifully. Clear optics and held its point of aim all day. I only put it on the rifle because I had it spare and I wanted to give the rifle an outing but its staying on there now. The friend that I was shooting with the week before last was absolutely and utterly amazed when I told him I paid £36 for it from China.

simply it will be ok, not perfect and I'll bet you want to upgrade it to something with more mag when finances allow and thats the real determining factor. If you can afford it then sell this one on if not use it and it will be fine but you'll find 150 yard rabbits look very small through it :good:

thanks for being honest yeah thats the main factor . . Finances . . I will be upgrading when i can but i would rather put my money into the best gun i can afford at the minute and be able to use it straight away with the scope i have :good: again thanks to everyone who answered

I fitted a Simmons Pro Hunter 6-18 x 40 on my HMR because it also works very well with the Cobra NV.

Same ret at 30-30, never been a problem.

As already said you don't need much with the HMR as it is fairly flat shooting.
