mosa
Ive just been talking to a bloke who uses cci tnt jacketed hollow points in his hmr. I currently use winchester ammo. He said they were around £13 (same as my usual ) Has anyone tried them or does anyone use them if so what are they like cheers.
Redgum
My rfd had some tnts and cci 20gr in at one time, shot well in my CZ, he didnt stock them again so went back to hornady. It seems like rfds buy whats on the best offer ( and I quess sometimes just whats available as often heard, ships stuck in the docks) Always end up with hornady as this seems whats most usually available. One of the main reasons for starting to reload centrefire was due to fluctuating availability. Ps they were a tenner for 50 but that was last year. Dekers
I still have some of these from years back. When I first got the HMR they were terrible at grouping, but several 1000 rounds through the barrel they shoot ok now. Fact is I seem to have very little use for them, I see the HMR as a 17g Ballistic tip round, it works well at that, the 20g HP do not expand well and pass right through too often. If I want more thump/grunt/stopping power than the 17g HMR, I will use my .22 WMR. I would be curious to hear if anyone has found a niche use for the 20g HP where they consider it the ideal round. Cheers
Beardo
Lots of threads about this if you do a search. Long and short of it is don't bother they don't expand very well and often pass straight through
wildfowler.250
Didn't find they killed as well as the vmax bullets

Cheers I have tried several differant brands of 20gr at one time or another, read somewhere that they are bit better in the wind but have never found them anymore accurate or effective. Have had them pass right through if not hit bone but then have had the odd 17gr do the same. When I first got my hmr I was constantly playing with it,using differant ammo, differant cleaning regimes and always worring if it was me or the gun if I didnt get little groups. Now it gets put away clean, shoots hornady 17gr and is a brilliant little gun when the conditions are right to use it.
12borejimbo
I didn't like them, still got a box and I reckon they will just get used for emergency ammo, stick to the hornady vmax, i do now!
daz2202
17g cci hollows I find great but the 20's I find hard work
cooter
I still have part of a box of these, and will only use them for paper punching. CCI are the only HMR rounds I have used that either ricochet or passed straight through a rabbit.
humperdingle
I used half a box in mine when I had it. Not very good groups, and they ricocheted a few times even in that half a box worth of shots. I just stuck with the 17 grain V-Max.
Evil Elvis
They richochet badly after they have gone through what ever you are shooting, and if you have fox on your ticket for hmr they zip through and dont do enough damage for a quick clean kill imo. Dont buy em!!!
casts_by_fly
I used to use them in my HMR when I had it. They were the best grouping rounds for me and I had tried all of the BT's and soft points. So I stuck with them. I went through a few dozen boxes of them with no problems. I was shooting hares and ground birds and while they don't 'explode' on impact, there was always a good sized exit hole from 10-125 yards. I'd shoot them again, but I sold the HMR. Now I use the 20 gr V-max. Thanks Rick
Bewsher500
there was always a good sized exit hole from 10-125 yards. 10yds? I bet there was mate! I have them but dont get the same groups as the 17gn vmax. cant see any use for them that the vmax dont already do
