Oddman
Looking for new game gun to do a bit of everything. Walked up duck flighting and driven. Must haves for me a re 3" chamber, steel proof and auto safety I get on with Brownings. Does the new 525 Hunter have auto safety??? Or if not what other guns would you recommend TBH I prefer fixed chokes. Edited August 21, 2011 by Oddman
Dangerous Brian
My Dad bought a B325 many years ago and I think bought a kit to convert it to auto safety at the same time. From memory it was a fairly simple job for them to to. Have a word with your local gun shop/ smith and see whether they can (and how much) before ditching the idea of a Browning. ATB Brian I bought a 525 a few years ago now - at that time they didn't have autosafe - something to do with a legal case in the USA where someone shot someone and claimed he thought the gun's safety would have been on - following this I was led to believe all new Brownings would be manual safety - I didn't give up and found that a gunsmith could convert them to autosafe - but had to get Browning to agree that this wouldn't invalidate the warranty - so I suggest contacting them and seeing what the score is at the moment. Oddman
Thanks Gents I've found that 525 Nordic Hunter which has auto safe. Presumably because Swedes are more sensible than Americans Checking one out this weekend.
welshwarrior
manual safeties can be converted to auto very easily by a gun smith.
kitchrat
You can't buy the kit anymore, but a gunsmith can do it OK. Cost me £70.

Only1cliff
Bought my 525 a couple of months ago, mine came as a manual safety, but has the part to convert it to auto in the box.

Did you buy this brand new? I have just bought a secondhand 2010 525 and it came with everything except the part needed to make it auto which suprised me a bit. It may have been lost I suppose but I have heard at one point browning stopped supplying the part so I might just be unlucky

JBS
halfbee and Only1cliff are your guns game or sporter models? My 525 is the game version and I'm just wondering if it came auto safe but the previous owner had it removed, hence it not being in the case with all the other bits and bobs? 86inch
I bought a new 525 game gun earlier in the year. I didn't get the autosafe parts and TBH i don't find it an issue.

I usually tend to shoot two up in a pigeon hide and find the auto is valuable in these types of situation, I still find myself constantly checking its on safe but would still prefer its there
Scully
Have never come across someone insisting their shotgun has an auto safety before;usually people ask how they can be removed. Each to their own,but personally I find them to be a pain in the bum.
