Can you use these things to like power a saw bench or use it for electricity?

Like you put a belt on it and it turns the saw blade etc. Cause if it is there is one up near me, its needs some work I think and its on and Island. We are ripping down a house and its in the outbuilding with a saw bench in it. Search "Inchconnachan" on google maps.

I'll take a picture of it when im next on the island.

A mate of mine restores them

He once went to a show advertising one for sale and there was a german buying them all up and shipping them over there because he can make big money on them

Now whenever my mate fixes one up he just rings him and he comes to collect when he can

You could get one from a very old dumper truck or concrete mixer.

I have a dumper with a Petter PH2 twin cylinder air-cooled diesel. No electric start, in fact no electric anything.

It's great in a luddite way, 8.4hp @ 1800 revs max, I think it's about 1200cc . It pulls like a train, helped by the massive flywheel.

It's like this one;

Hello Dave.

The best slow reving diesel by far is the Lister CS, they come in several HP sizes from 3/1 to 8/1, theres also twins starting at 10/1 I think. They are often on ebay but fetch serious money.

I have a 6/1 Start 'O' Matic that's going to be a CHP when finally installed.

There's also several air cooled Listers like LD1 that can be turned right down to about 600rpm, they sound nice at that speed and a gallon or red lasts ages.

Here's a good place to look for information.

Good luck.

Rob

PS. If I get it right here is a photo of my Start 'O' Matic still on my trailer after fetching it home.

Then go for either LD1 or PAZ1. As for your wife, put your trousers on and just get one. :good:

I sorted the wife problem.

It went like this....

Me; "Im thinking about buying a stationary engine"

her; "Like at those shows that just sits there for no reason?"

Me; "Yes"

Her; "whats the point they don't do anything"

Me; "Why do you paint your nails?"

Her; "it looks nice"

ME; "snap, Im getting one"

I will look those engines up, How much do you recon ill have to spend?

Yep, definately a Landrover! :lol::lol:

A fine example of pointless for sure....unlike my Trooper 3.0 TD which has to be the total opposite of basic :blink:

What do the old barges run on, I love the sound of them old diesels doing about 800 rpm all day/month/year long, priceless :good:
