il cacciatore
Just built a new computer for myself. Its an AMD 64bit Athlon X2 running on an ASUS A8N-SLI Delux motherboard. First time I'd built a new computer and its satisfying when it first boots up without going 'bang' . 700quid in computer equipment up in smoke is something to think about. What specs are you all running? Edited April 30, 2006 by il cacciatore
Dead-Eyed Duck
I totally agree with the person that said that there is only one really satisfying way to boot a computer. I stare at the 'Help' button for hours, and wish "If only you could". Don

Andy75
What specs are you all running? Which one? :o As a part time thing I run a web design business, and do a lot of freelance 3D CAD out of work time, so have some monster workstations around me in the "office". From Quad Xeon HT's to a watercooled P4 HT, it's all here and using 3 TFT's - a 20.1", a 17" and a 15", powered by graphics cards that in one instance ranges into £ 4 figures! My IT budget can get out of hand sometimes, but it's worth it for moving large CAD models around swiftly...and these days the Pc's make money for the shooting hobby, so it's all good Edited April 30, 2006 by Andy75

Gemini
OK, here’s one for the computer buffs amongst you. I have just been given an almost new computer by someone. The reason for the gift was due to the owner passing away and his office not being able to get into it due to the fact that no-one knows the password. It’s XP and I have tried the usual route of going into “Safe mode” and trying to log on as “Administrator”. But unfortunately there seems to be a password on that as well. I don’t have a copy of XP, so I can’t install another version, so how the heck do I get past the bloody password problem. G.M.

dunganick
you would need the same xp disc and code for that copy, then i think you could F disc the machine (wipe everything) and reinstall it using the original xp that was on it before. but ive only watched my dad do this..... so there is all sorts of witchcraft i probably missed
JJaxeman
I also built my own computer its running a AMD XP3800+ with 4 gig memory chips and 800 gig hardrives with a ge force 7200XP graphics card and a Soundblaster Audigy 2zs sound card with out board box. Mainly use for recording music from guitar and Online gaming COD2 and the sort and the odd DVD Burn . Save a fortune on building yourself a computer rather that the **** you get in the highsteet, and you get just what you want in it And its not that hard to do either. milo_05
You're right JJaxeman, it's super easy to do, just clip all the bits together almost! what PSU are you using for that little lot? and what cooler have you got on the 3800+, thank god they run much cooler than equivalent P4's!
