Markio
Id make an awesome bird scarer Me too, scared the whoopsie out of a mallard this evening. I didn't feel too bad, it shot over the sea wall at a rate of knots and in trying to catch up with it i would guess i over lead it with a very 'keen' swing. Nice evening though. Took the pooch for the first time.
motty
Three flights so far, going again tonight and tomorrow. Still nothing in the bag but great to be there. This Mornings tide on Shep Whites. Hi. Do you sit in the tide and move back with it when it comes in? Just curious, as was out on Thursday morning and a pair of fowlers were to my right. As soon as the tide got to the green they retreated back to the sea wall. I stayed on the tide and moved back with it. Don't understand why they moved so quickly - they had chest waders on. twitchynik
Round 3. I'm not sure I can keep this up. At least no-one else is here (so far) so I might just bag a decent spot.

MJT
I was out yesterday. It was my sisters wedding so i had to be away early to get ready. Got to the marsh around 4:20 a pair of mallard flew over my right shoulder around 45yards up a quick left and right one landing in the main channel and the second in the mud a fair way out. Two good retrieves with the dog and i was on my way back home was walking back of the marsh at 6:30. Great morning roll on the cold weather

ayano3
Today was my third morning on the Wash, my fifth flight in all but may take a break for sleep tonight! I took out the new member who is under my wing for at least this season and he had the best opportunity of the day but failed to drop the closest of a fair sized group of Mallard. I could not shoot as he was sat close by me as he is still on 'L' plates. I just wish they had come 'my side'. Quite a few duck about but we need some proper wildfowling weather! Motty, I do sit out some of the tides but as they have been 8.3M 8.1M & 7.7m the last 3 days they totally flood Sheps. When the tides are less and you can stay out I do sit them out and occasionally have to drop back a bit. You have to still be concealed so I will find a nice shallow creek where the water only part fills it and where I am still hidden from the keen eye of the ducks/geese. Its all about knowing the tides and the marsh and the way the wind etc can impact on the height of the tide. So far this season I have just sat on some of the small banks just off the sea wall and dont feel the need at this point of the season, especially with the tides we have had, to go wandering to the edge of the green. margun
Went out on the first, missed all 3 of a party of mallard that came over the sea wall so fast and low they nearly took my hat off. Went out for another go this evening, they were shooting a flight pond about half mile from the sea wall and managed to knock a lone mallard down. This wind is waaaay better, just need low temperatures and the wigeon now. Got to say though, the resident duck numbers on the swale seem really low this year, no sign of the ganders either. Dustem Dave
Shot the flight pond last night got 4 mallard, they were already on there when we arrived an hour and a quarter before dark despite being walked off at 3 pm,didn't realise the moon was up which didn't help either! Spaniel
I actually managed to get my first duck this morning. Went out early well on the forshore for 4.30am, but the expected skeins of geese just did not show, only seen about 5 in total i think, but there were a few ducks about. Well managed a nice L to R and bagged a Gadwall female duck..
