Using brake cleaner to clean guns

As i work in a garage, the mechanics use brake cleaner to get the dirty grime off engine parts and obviously brakes. Ive seen this work and its really good stuff.

My question is...... could i use this to clean my Browning Maxus semi auto barrell and gas ports/springs ect??

I don't know but can only suggest caution, others here say it is fine, perhaps it is, as the parts you are talking about on the gun are pretty tuff, all I can say for sure is, it has ****** up my alloy wheels! Very different to the inside of your gun just the same!

Asu have have such a good gun, can u not afford some recommended cleaner? Why skrimp on a couple of quid, when it could cost u a lot more in the long run.

I can get brake cleaner any time i want and thats why i asked the question. I do use some recommended cleaner at the moment but doesnt shift all of the grime/dirt as i expected.

I thought brake cleaner would work slightly better. I will give it a go and compare the two.
