ferguson_tom
Hello I am looking at buying my fist gun after getting my license a couple of weeks ago, I have gone and had a look at quite a few and for a first gun I like the look and the price of a second hand Bettinsoli. It fitted correctly and felt comfortable in my hands. However before i buy I would like some peoples opinions on the guns as was a little bit worried when the person in the shop said the gun was good for a couple of years whereas the Lanber next to it was good for 10, are they unreliable? It is priced at 395.00 and seems well looked after and still a tight gun. Also I have been looking for reviews on the guns but unable to pin down exactly the model it has 28" barrels, multichoke, ejector, the engraving has ducks on one side and a spaniel on the other. Can anyone tell what it is? Thanks in advance.
JR1960
There'll be a queue of people telling you they're **** shortly, I've had mine over 25 years and its had 10,000s of cartridges through it and its still perfectly serviceable. Having said that I used to own a Lanber sporter and wish I'd never sold it; I would say they are better quality on the whole.
Archie-fox
I have been given a bettinisoli dimond as a gift from a friend...still with the tags on and in the box un fired...I'm on the grouse again tomorrow and will be taking it..it feels good and has a nice smooth crisp closing and the engraving looks good too...all in all I'm really happy with it.. cant hit rabbits 123
Fantastic gun! Fits me beautifuly, very light compared to most sporters yet the kick is still lighter than some berretas and brownings that have been heavier. I'd go for it over a berreta or browning anyday! gemini52
bettinsoli have been making guns for years, so they must be doing somthing right they have some in built niggles like all guns the rebound springs are quite strong and can lead to the odd miss fire i had mine changed to weaker ones and its been fine. I paid £325 for mine (Bettinsoli Diamond, which sounds like the gun in question) and I wouldnt be without it

ChrisAsh
Had my Diamond Sporter just over 2 years, never a problem, looks great with good wood, still tight and about 100 bangs a week, I don't honestly think the sub £1500 Beretta or Browning's are any better made, just better marketing Edited October 1, 2011 by ChrisAsh
Harnser
If you like it ,buy it I had one and couldnt fault it . They are not as cheap as they used to be but its all about supply and demand . Harnser .

ferguson_tom
Thanks everyone for the response sounds like they should be a sound gun. I dont think going to go for that one from that dealer, they couldnt tell me the model or year and it was missing all the chokes apart from the ones in the barrel. Dont multichoke guns come with a complete set of chokes?
Bluebarrels
I had one, never had any problems with it to be truthfull good solid guns for the money you pay and yes they normally come with 5 chokes BB Point it in the right direction and it will do the job as well as any other gun
ChrisAsh
You can probably get more chokes from the importers and also the age and model from them with the serial number

gemini52
regarding chokes for bettinsolis, beretta mobil chokes will fit i had an a303 semi and found they will interchange checked it out with my local gunsmith and he reckons its common, some gun makers make the guns to fit readily available chokes but be sure to check it out first with a gunsmith. -Mongrel-
wait your time, as these guns come up for sale quite regular. better been patient than hasty They do, but not at £395! It obviously depends on condition but more like £500 is more usual! If it fits and seems a good one then go for it, I have one and use it on clays every week and the odd spot of 'fowling, never a problem yet.
