This is my first ever goose...very happy

The pigeons didn't show this morning but as we sat quietly in the hide i could just hear honking coming towards me...

i had a couple of cartridges in my pocket with a bit more kick for just such an occasion and these were slipped into the gun just in case the honking came

close enough for a shot...

Im not sure how many birds there was probably 8 or so, but as they came over my head i singled one out and fired both barrels...my bird folded in the air and crashed into the tree's behind me....leaving a 47 year old school kid jumping for joy...lol...enjoyed every second of it.

What big loads did you put through it and what was the recoil like mate :hmm:

A friend had given me a couple of 56grm 0 super magnums just in case i ran into any bears :)

didn't notice any extreme recoil...but i was caught in the moment a little bit...

congrates on the bird, felt the same with mine, although mine were a much easier shot, hope you breasted it, alot of people say canandas are rough/tough old birds, but reckon they just aint cooked it right, fillet each breast, giving you four breasts from each goose, quick fry off with red wine, mixed herbs and little garlic, I reckon it tastes better than steak

Sorry fella but what herbs did you use,(probably the gayest question ever). I'm not roasting another one unless I get a yearling pink!

Shot the 3 & 1/2" magnum 66 gram carts before and they have a bit of a kick. Fine if.your just a 8 a day guy but could imagine some long ferm effects if using more than 20 a day regularly.
