pavman
I was recently a guest gun on a friends syndicate game shoot and the bag was very low for yet another day, 25 head when the expected is 70-80 anyways one thing leads to another and it looks like the shoot captain has let additional days on the shoot to outsiders shooting the syndicate drives and birds between dates! No one in the main syndicate knew anything about it or had been consulted. It’s a great shame an I just cant understand what kind of shooting man would do such a thing to his fellows, they seem a great bunch I know a few and one is a fantastic game shot who normally totes a 28 bore but on the day was taking birds with a U/O .410 and missed very few inc high driven birds it truly was phenomenal shooting with just 11grm loads

triumphant59
Think the problems called greed. My advice is to ask for your money back, tell the captain to let your days to one of the other group. If you stay you'll have a sour taste and not enjoy your remaining days. fenman99
With possibly 18-20 members i can't believe no-one else saw or heard nothing on these secret days. I would demand my money back from the captain & be out of there so fast fenman99

If the Shoot and game reared is entirely paid for by the syndicate the guy is right out of order. I have beat on commercial shoots which had a resident syndicate shooting Saturdays or alternate Saturdays. They were in fact there to shoot the outlying parts of the estate with something like 100 -150 bird days and driving the birds back to the centre for the big let days thye following week. Blackpowder Its all sydicate money and should be only a sydicate shoot every other sat, I am told the shoot captain has sneaked in another 200 birds to try to cover it up but word got out, none of the guns are local with most mobbing an hour or so to shoot so not like they have been about............. its ongoing and as i am not a member i was just a guest its up to them to sort but i wanted to know if any others had any such experiance........ Kes
I have only heard of this where the shoot syndicate manager is the gamekeeper and rents the land - he also puts out enough birds to support regular non syndicate days, sometimes twice weekly, off main drives usually. All the syndicate members know this and always achieve their stated bags. If this is done in secret, first, how do you know its happening? Second do you all feel the same? If so call a meeting of like minds and all demand your money back, in a letter drawn up by a solicitor. That should allow you to recover your cash and, despite what it may seem, this borders on theft and obtaining money by deception so he'll reflect on his behaviour and have no option but to pay you back. I'd also be tempted, having spoken to a legal chappie, to involve the police - a criminal offence means he will have no SGC or FAC and referral to the police may well cause them to reevaluate whether he is a 'fit and proper person'. Good luck.
Gillaroo
Out of interest how many shots were fired on the day you went?
JR1960
If it is as it seems on the face of it, that's a big no-no. Never heard of such a thing. Presumably he thought that as they were all miles away they wouldn't get to know, I think personally I'd be a tad upset.

This is complete madness and is probably fraudulent - he is flogging shoots that the syndicate have paid to create. I am sure there are plenty of other shoots who would be delighted to welcome you with open arms.
Whitebridges
I feel sorry for your host, more than embarrassing. Words need to be had. Having said that the head count isn't that important (well to me anyway) and watching a bloke shoot good birds with a small bore makes the day anyway. I hope your host sorts the politics otherwise this will spoil the fun.
