apbuild
King Ratcatcher, We go to Great Yarmouth regularly. We are back there this year in August. We stay at Vauxhall Park on the Acle New Road. It is on the outskirts of Yarmouth. Loads to do for the family and the kids. Looking forward to a break. Rob. In fact, I am at Bisley with you guys on the 5th August and when I get home to Oxfordshire, I have to drive to Yarmouth for the week. Thanks to my lovely wife for arranging the holiday to clash with the Bisley day!
Lord Geordie
I generally hire a boat a few times a year done norfolk and call into Gt Yarm every time on the way to Norwich via river Always found it rather dead at nights though and last time we went was dire As for fishing (forget the beach and move inland :o ) Pike and Bream in the Broads are fantastic and make a good fishing trip LG

Cranfield
Ahhh Great yarmouth, what memories. Mid 60's, four single blokes staying at the Wild Duck Caravan Park in Caister, driving a left hand drive VW beetle, which we turned over on a bend, into a wheat stubble field (not a scratch, on us, or the car ). Saw the Beverley Sisters topping the bill in GY, with the Beatles supporting them, the girls drove off in a big Jag "BEV 3", we thought the Beatles weren't much. Going to a dance at the local village hall and having to climb out the ladies toilet window, because one of my mates danced with a local hard man's girl friend and about 30 of them came after us. :o Trying to get into the Butlins Camp repeatedly and being thrown out .....repeatedly. My friend getting very sick on Lacons beer and sleeping under the caravan all night. Ahhhh, those were the days.

Cranfield
Its such adventures in ones youth, that form the man. HH, I thought about that a bit before I posted it, I remember it was the Wild Duck Caravan Park , I knew it was just outside Gt Yarmouth and I remember a sign saying "Caister", so I took a guess. Highlander
Great Yarmouth is in East Anglia...and the powers that be have declined to renew any sea defences along the EA coastline prefering that the sea takes back what was once hers. IMHO not a bad idea where GY is concerned

darebear
omg i love great yarmouth. see, i was born in norwich and kinda lived near yarmouth in a little place called lingwood. only its not as little as i remember it. moved to aberdeen when i was 3 or 4, but most of my family still live in norwich, so every year we've been down to norwich at least a couple of times. and yarmouth is part of the tradition. when i was a kid my family and all my cousins and grandparents used to go to yarmouth one night. and we'd go on all the rides in the fun fair. i soooo love that rickety old roller coaster. and then go in the arcades along the front. and get chips before we went back to the car and drove home along the acle straight... with us kids falling asleep because at night that is one longgggggg and borrrrrrring ride home in the dark. yup. and going to yarmouth is still something i find myself doing every time i go to norwich. was there a few months ago. need to go again soon. and poor scaffy now gets dragged along the arcades with me. ha ha
