Stealth Stalker
I 've been doing quite a bit of recce-ing on a sportsground that I am waiting to be cleared by the firearms officer for FAC air rifle & rimfire use. As you can see there's lots about & they haven't been shot or lamped before, I've been stalking up to within 10 yds of them SS

Stealth Stalker
B is B Not lucky ! I've been working on this place for months now. Its quite frustrating at least the little uns are getting bigger though The grounds manager wants the firearms officer to have a look at the site first before I get the go ahead. I,ve told him I could do a job with legal limit air rifle, without the need for the land to be cleared, but he's not having it Paulos I was thinking of taking them out with a pea shooter SS
Chezney
I'm so jealous! That looks like quite possibly the finest permission I have seenf or a LONG while. Let me at 'em with my scatter gun ...or my air rifle.... or my spud gun....
gibby
Nice bit of ground ... looks flat for a rimmy Chez even with all of the above you still wouldnt hit them. Gibby

Zapp
looks like you are in for some fun! :yp: I used to have a permission like that. It was great for a year or two, but then mixy got into them pretty bad.
dunganick
ive had mixxy on one of my permissions, i noticed it on most of the rabbits i shot but only in the early stages, i set about taking every rabbit i saw (dont worry if they wernt eaten they were ferret food) no matter what size if it had any symptoms (puffy nose and white/pink around the eyes prooved to be the most reliable in this case) about 1 year on now i am seeing an awful lot of healthy bunnies about. Some still show scars, but its been a good while since i shot one which was properly mixxy. This seems to have worked and i would like to think saved me some sport (back to front as that sounds) it involved taking about 100 bunnies off this area and although most of the ones which i noticed mixxy on were old, it did mean occasionally taking the young ones. Mixxy might seem to kill off the whole population, esspecially around winter, but stick at it, they will more often than not spring back within a few months. Frank
Id say air rifle would be best for that great bunny infested land.
Stealth Stalker
Your not wrong Frank My plan is to take the 12 ft lbs Stealth for the close in rabbits 20 - 30 yds & the FAC Air Arms for the longer bunnys. I don't think I will need the rimfire (overkill) we will see? I'm meeting the firearms officer there on wednesday so hopefully all go's well & I can make a start on em pretty soon. I've been working on this for a while, doing loads of recce's, checking out safe backstops, times they're out etc. Cheers SS
Stealth Stalker
I met the firearms officers, yeah 2 of em? At the sportsground today. Really helpfull guys, we had a walk round and I showed them where I intended to ambush the masses of bunnys. They weren't keen on clearing it for .22 rimfire, which didn,t surprise me as there are a few footpaths on the site and its very flat. They were however happy to clear it for .17 HMR? and FAC air rifle which in all honesty was going to be my prefered choice of rifle anyway. All in all I was glad I went along, I made a good impression on the officers (which they relayed back to grounds manager) and I am now permitted to shoot on 100 acres of prime bunny land Hopefully I will soon be posting some pics of my efforts Cheers Stealth Stalker
