yickdaz
where to start on this one you will get a lot of replies on this one and end up more confused than when you started, this is what i use browning maxus semi auto 30in 1/4 or 1/2 choke miroku mk38 over an under 30in barrel 1/4 and 3/4 fixed choke
Fatcatsplat
One that shoots straight that you can hit stuff with!! Given a choice and assuming you're decoying i'd go for a semi auto for ease of reloading, lack of recoil and the ability to miss the same bird 3 times. Loads of cheap semis on here and Guntrader etc. Leave it to you whether you go down the i love/i hate Hatsan route or plump for an old Browning or Franchi
Beretta28g
Whats a "pidgeon"? Never shot one.
carpentermark
I would probably go for a reasonably cheap, used Holland and Holland 12-bore 'Royal Deluxe' Sidelock Shotgun. Will do pretty much everything you want it to do, especially good in a muddy pigeon hide. http://hollandandholland.com/gun_single.php?i=289&l=new_york&v=new&c= Ive got a 'pair' of em and im very good with them! mr salt
buy any gun that fits you. if i had only one it would be an al 391 on 3/4 choke.( for pigeons) firing gamebore clear pigeon 32grm plastic wad 6s. You must like the way it handles and it must fit you. make and model are really down to what you can afford and find for sale. Along with personal taste. Marsh Pig
I'm with Mr salt, AL391 with 1/2 or 3/4 choke does the job fine.Has to be a auto for hide work.
dan-250
I currently use on a friends land either a old Spanish sxs 28" d/t with 3/4 and full fixed. Or a 26" o/u renato gamba, only got it the other week but good gun and very usable. 1/4 and 1/2, I use that if walking around, as it's alot lighter does the same job, 1 cost 75 and the other 150, inexpensive or expensive, if its in the right place it will kill it. I think the majority use over and under, although I would like to try a semi personally

Merlin64
I own a Lanber 3" magnum . I use it for clays , rabbits and pigeons . Cost me £600 new over 7 years ago but I have grown with the gun and it suits me fine . I know when I point it I will hit 9/10 now because I know the gun intimateley . I am no expert but I do think there is alot to be said for keeping and getting to know your gun .I would not swap it now as I feel confident with it . Also depends on how much money you got to spend ie custom build etc.
