BangBangNik
Well I finally plucked up the courage to go and seek my self Some permission. Made my way around 7 farms this morning and got a no from all of them. Will have to scout out some more farms and try again in a week or so. Oh well early days yet and I'm sure I'll hear plenty more no's before I hear a yes.

BRAD1927
Good luck mate it's almost impossible to get permissions these days as either somebody already has them or sometimes its just a case of the face dont fit. I have sent out 25 letters this week to all the local farmers in the vain hope that I get just one reply but fingers crossed we can all but hope. I have found various threads on here with hints and tips but the general concensus is keep trying and dress appropriatley. I have to go back and see one of the farmers next week as the last time I spoke to him was at the beginning of the game season and he told me to come back in January so fingers crossed. BangBangNik
Cheers guys, it was my first attempt so I wasn't expecting much. But I shall keep at it, like I say, plenty more farms to try yet. All the best with your call back Brad, hopefully it will be good news. M.I.A
Unfortunalty is a case of who you know not what you know, that normally ends up with permissions Keep on though, it took me years and years. i first got perm on a 6 acre field followed by 1000 acre perm, followed by a 450 acre perm, followed by a 500 acre perm then followed by a 3000 acre perm! All down to building a very good relationship with the owner of the 6 acre permission!! Edited January 24, 2012 by M.I.A

BangBangNik
Thanks guys, there are some good tips there. Think I will have a look at the cards. Just leave a couple at each farm I ask at. Even if it only results in one permission it's money we'll spent.
beeredup
yeah great tips and it would appear i may of struck lucky as a good friends is dating a lady who father just happens to own one of the biggest farms around here!! and guess what he fell out with the guy who had permission as he was sending all manner of numpties onto the land so its not been shot for a while and there may be an opening for lil ole me fingers crossed
Birdboy
Hi The least permission i got was by going online to Vistaprint - print 250 free biz cards saying - vermin control, fully insured and experienced shooter etc. I then placed one on a tractor windscreen (obviously while it was parked up !!). He called me next day and gave me 1000 acres ! I always keep some cards in my wallet so i can give them to farmers i might see whilst cycling around the country lanes. Worth trying a mix of things. Good luck BB

Cannon
Stick at it lad. I have one small permission at the minute, but have asked no less than 25 farmers in the past two weeks. Every one said they were ok or already had shooters on the land. It can be disheartening but eventually someone will say yes.
Pointer
Hi BBN, don't give up mate it will come good in the end. I moved location every few years, due to being in the Military and had to go through this process every time. The cards are an excellent idea and I used these to good effect. Even though the farmer said NO I would ask if I could leave a card. I would then get a call sometimes weeks even months later, with a farmer saying his rape, peas etc were being hammered and his usual guns could not respond and was I willing to have a go. Come hell or high water I would be there the following day, either throwing a sickie or taking a days holiday. Once set up, I would make some noise with the gun, even if the birds were not showing, so it purely sounded like I was doing a good job. At days end I would phone the farmer and thank him for a great days sport and to phone me whenever he had a drama. Once the farmer knows he can trust you, you will be quids in. I also found that getting to know shooters at the local clay club led to invites out, which led onto solo trips etc. I have lost count of the knock backs I got and I now have over 5000 acres to go at through persevering. I wish you lived closer I would get you out for a few sessions.......Good luck mate.
mfletch
This may help I tried loads of farms with no luck then one day a old mate came around for a chat Anyway after about half a hour I realized that he does welding on most of the farms around here so I said can he get me any shooting {worth a try} He came back the day after with a farmers number and said phone him and say your Steve's mate Job done and the land is just outside my village So the moral of this is do you know anyone who works on farms as the farmer is more likely to trust him than someone just knocking on the door Even got more land later on a larger farm

Yes, free cards but you have to pay £3-£4 delivery. Ive used them lots of times now. Paypal is very safe. BB
