it's that time of year again when we get rewarded for all our hard work durin the shootin season beaten up as many birds as we can so others can enjoy their days shootin but what do you shoot on your day ?

I'll start us off ~ I shot a cock & hen pheasant,2 single mallard and 2 Left & Right mallard, could have shot more ducks but they were just too low, it's was nice to get shootin at the birds that we watch others shootin all season :good:

We treated our beaters to breakfast in the pub before kick-off. They shot 13 pheasants, 11 ducks, 2 woodcocks and 1 pigeon a bag of 27 for 87 shots, a respectable shot to kill ratio of 3.22 to 1. We then treated them back at the pub to sandwiches and chips.

I thoroughly enjoyed my first beaters day on Saturday.

I shot ****** all despite the best efforts of the keeper putting me in the best spots in the afternoon and the non shooting beaters working really hard.

For some reason all of the birds came no where near me and all went in a direction which they have not done all season! They must not like my hat or something.

Never mind, a great day out and if I wanted guaranteed birds I could go and shoot at clays!

Friday we had the 1st of 3 beaters days even with a cancelled last drive due to weather we bagged 316 ,Saturday I was invited to shoot with the Duke and Dutches of Rutland and we shot just shy of 300

Tuesday and Wendesday another two beaters days to do so would estimate another 600 plus birds, happy days :D

You shoot more than most guns do. Must be some beating you do.

Keepers day last Saturday 105 birds , a woodcock, a duck and a pigeon.

Toooo much bitter and a big Sunday hangover :good:

The keeper took four of us out today for a walk around, another 48 and 2 Woodcock.

Great end to a great season.

Roost shooting every Saturday through Feb, happy days :D

Got a very good day for me. Not looking for quantity but quality, i like to remember my shots.

Had a very nice hen bird on my left and then took a partridge on my right, both stone dead. Had a very high cock bird on the last drive which again was stone dead.

Shot a couple more throughout the day. But my tally was 5 pheasant (4 cocks) and 1 partridge for 11 shots with my trusty 20bore !

7 pheasants and a woodcock today, out of a bag of 143 between 14 guns.

Started the day with a high bird drive and 17 empties for a handful of feathers drifting on the breeze!! Did not get any chances on my stands after that (well one go at a very high bird everyone else missed-similar result to earlier!) and got all my birds as a walker.

Back again tomorrow :D

First was last Thursday, another tomorrow and then keepers day Wed. I don't know personally, but overall 321 in the game Cart over 7 drives, weather and light held well last Thursday.

Also somewhat unusually for this shoot, Ground Game/Pests was on the menu, 2 Hare and 1 Fox fell to that, fox ran straight at a gun who eventually decided to drop him at the end of his barrel, loads of deer took flight, Muntjac, Roe and Fallow, but they all went on their way!

I don't even remember the split, mainly pheasant, decent numbers of partridge, few duck, etc.

:good:
