kent
Said it before but wd40 comes nowere near my guns, due to its effects on silver solder. In the bore and chamber of stored firearms i use Kano Krol. I use nothing more than a good dry off and a silcone impregnated cloth on externals. browning spray on my shotgun bores. perhaps the worst thing you can do is put a wet gun in a safe, the next is trap contaminates like salt in oil and do the same. Remember mineral oils seeping into wood is as bad as rust and can leave to softening or even breakage

Blackpowder
Dry off and wipe down with an oily rag impregnated with several decades of various gun oils. When applying oil to action parts always wipe it off to leave the thinest of smears, AND store muzzels down in the gun safe to prevent oil leaching into the stock. As many guns will be ruined with over oiling as underoiling. Blackpowder
