Azzurri
Would a lower gun hold be better to allow you to see the target out, or is it an advantage to hold the gun even higher and look through the gun ? Any advice would be welcomed. Thanks

oscarsdad
I used to shoot DTL (but found it a bit boring as I much prefer flush / sporting shoots) and didn't used to mount my gun until I saw the bird. Not the usual way to do it but it did work as I have had a full house on several occasions with this method. I shoot better as a reaction including mounting the gun. But you do have to be quick before the bird gets too far away.

deershooter
The main reason people think DTL is boring is because they are no good at it!It requires the most concentration of any discipline and to win most competitions you need to shoot at least 100/ 298 if not 100/300 In 2005 I shot 100 straight in the English Single barrel and still lost Deershooter
beerdeor
I would leave my gun in the slip, then go watch some paint dry, would seem just as much fun! My god this is beyond doubt the most labouros thing I have ever shot. You can get good at this dicaplin, like most but it's all about how much money and lead you want to put in the air!!!!!!!!!!!!not for me sorry.I know this doesnt answer your question but I would sooner spend my hard earned on something entertianing atb Jim

bedwards1966
I won't say it's the most exciting shooting I've tried - I do it though mainly because I can't. It does make you shoot quicker which can be helpful on many other types of shooting, when/if I get good at it I'll probably quit as then I'll be bored. The same goes for any shooting for me - if I could hit everything every time I'd find another hobby as it would be boring if there wasn't a challenge to it. But there isn't much danger of that happening though!

To suggest regular 299 or even 300's shooter's skill is just a case of 'throwing money' is an insult. I have only been shooting since late 2010, I bet you have tons more experience than me. I bet you have thrown far more money and lead in the air than I have. I shoot DTL. Lets me and you go head to head on 100 Registered, £200 to charity by the loser. THAT will make it entertaining. Easy money Jim, right?
