cockercas
as title, who hunts with a stainless barrel? do you find it a hindrance or notice no difference over a blue barrel when stalking. il be mostly lamping so will i experience more light reflected into the scope with stainless? RichardH
You could have it blued then it would look traditional but have all the advantages of stainless. We will be able to do it later in the year as its quite an investment to set up a seperate line/process, in terms of cost its about 40% more than conventional blacking Richard

coyotemaster
You can have them bead blasted for a no shine/glare finish or you can do as us serious(ly demented) predator hunters do and Paint It. I was serious but I realize there are Limits!!! I have one stainless that has a matte finish that looks like it was gone over with a scotch brite while in the lathe--- not a bad looking finish and quite effective for hunting. cockercas
Its got an RRP of £1200, so I'm not really fancying the idea of a scowering pad. Or painting it (yet). If my shooting suffers I have some mat black paint in the shed. Thanks for everyone's input.
deputy dog
My X Bolt got the stainless fluted barrel, thought it would be an disadvantage. But when out lamping for the first time with a it a few weeks ago. It didn't really show up at all glary or overly shiny in the lamp light. Besides iv always thought if what ever you are going to shoot runs before you get the chance of a shot. Then i would say 90% of the time its seen you and not your stainless barrel. Alycidon
Used them on 22LR for at least 20 years, no issues as long as you dont wave it about. Keep the business end pointed directly at the intended victim. These days I mainly use centerfire 's, all have stainless barrels and no issues at all.
