deadeye ive
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/main.jhtml.../29/ngame29.xml Swallowed up by Admin costs .........sounds about right .............Probably put it up now if they read this
Whitebridges
Half a million x 6 quid = £3m. 98% of it is lost through admin costs. It's a bloody scandal. There should be some sort of audit to find out how the hell it is even possible to fritter away so much money administering a form filling excercise. No wonder all the bigger issues like health and policing are all tits up. Pathetic. Still, on the bright side the GL is finished, or will be very shortly. Highlander
You do still need a game license and in this day and age I'd not wannna be stopped with a car full of pheasants without one. Most people I know never bothered and for years that was not a problem BUT it's the one thing the anti's could get you on if nothing else. For the sake of, what, £6 get one! plexer
As far as I heard from the NGO chairman on sunday it wasn't announced that it would be scrapped but that is the current plan. The trouble with scrapping it is that is the last resort for prosecuting poachers if they were poaching game lack of a game licence and they can be prosecuted for that. No game licence = no prosecution. Ben

No game licence = no prosecution. it would be a labour government idea, cant have the crimms being punished. or they may be more illegals coming than they thought, this way the can nick what the want off the land. and they cant be touched. webber
I was in touch with BASC this afternoon. You will notice that last seasons game license has now expired, and I wondered if I needed to buy another. They kindly directed me to the DEFRA press release. I concluded that a game license will be required for this season. At the moment matters are open for consultation etc. So it looks like some progress has been made, but not eough to save me six quid. webber

Mungler
I understand you can get the license from the Post Office - I have been on line and can't find a sniff of it. What's the score?
lurcherboy
I understand you can get the license from the Post Office - I have been on line and can't find a sniff of it. What's the score? You will normaly find it in the bigger post offices Mungler. But the staff are not up to date with which one we need. You have to ask for a 'licence to kill game' as there are different types available. LB

What about one for politicians - I understand that it would probably cost a bit more, but I think it would be worth it.
