well after a few weeks off on holiday i finaly got out tonight and had set my sights on a bean field that there has been a lot ot roe traffic round for a roe buck i got to the field at 7pm and set up and waited but all that seemed to be moving were doe,s with fawns at about 8pm i could hear somthing crashing about on the left hand side of the field so stalked round to have a look thinking it might be a couple of bucks having a go at each other or a buck after a doe . as i got to the corner of the field i spotted to foxes chasing each other round on the beans two big cubs i watched them for about 5 min and as they were about 200 yards up the field and this side of the field had not growen to well i was prity confident that they were not going any where in a hurry as the grass on the edge of the field was flat for about 50 yards where they had been playing for some time so i set the sticks up and waited to see if the dog or vixen would turn up 45 minutes later and no joy so i gave them a wee squeek and they came to me like bullits at 80 yards they came into a nice clear bit free of beans and a quick hooy and they stopped on the spot the first on dropped on the spot and then the second was down before it new what was going on i sat till dusk but no others turned up so no buck but very happy with two more foxes so that 34 foxes this year and i know ther will be a lot more when things get cut round here

thanks for looking

nice one gets the adrenalin going when you have 2 or 3 to have a go at, we're seeing numbers higher than I can remember and just when you think you are on top harvest starts and you find you aren't

very true buddy you always pray ;ile hell that once you pull the trigger the second one will stay put.we have never had so many foxes round here in a long time and it only going to get worse over the next month or so a lot of late night i think :no:

atb andy

I had an entertaining one a month or so back where out with a mate I flattened one then getting on the second he hadn't seen just lining up and the first decided to get up, was getting all sort of instructions to get back on it and he couldn't work out why I was looking elsewhere but then shot that one and he worked it out. The runner made it 30 yards and dropped dead how it got up is beyond me .243 round went in just inside the front leg went the length of the ribcage out behind it and back in infront of the rear leg and exited its ****. I knew it was a good hit hence not getting back on it but still you don't expect it, dog found it straight away. That ground we had 14 off in the end I think most was 5 in an evening with some rapid shooting great sport but bad for the chicken farmer. Our pheasant ground we've finally got some harvested but shooting more than ever on that so hopefully make a dent before too many birds start wandering from the pen
