Vince Green
They can't be surviving down there without water, specially not this time of year, somebody must be looking after them. A bit of hedge sitting is required. Are they good horses or just waiting to be collected by some French meat dealer (my guess) in which case they will be gone in a few days. southeastpete
we had a ***** dump two ponies in a field. He cut the fence to put them in. We left a note, and eventually he rang. We told him he could leave them there a few weeks tops, while he sorted something else out, but to pay for it. We got one payment, then nothing, no phone calls returned or anything. Then one of the ponies died. My wifes dad had been going to look after them, leaving them water. The amount of abuse he got from nosey parker, interfereing do gooders, saying he was abusing the horses was ridiculous. When one died, these do gooders rang the RSPCA, we didnt get in any trouble for it, for not caring for it on our land, but we were left with the body to dispose of. We dragged it into a trailer and took it to the zoo, where we had to PAY THEM to take it, £80. They would have collected it for £150! Free lion food! The other pony we gave to some local people who wanted one. My advice would be to go to local stabels etc, post some pictures and say free ponies, just collect them... T-Bolt94
If they are/where once legally owned they should have a passport and therefore will be micro chipped in the neck around their mane. Any vet with a scanner for micro chips can check this out. If they have grass they will be grand so if you just give them some water, but horses drink A LOT of water so you may need more than one trip a day. If you need any advice give me a message as I am fairly experienced with horses. Hope you get sorted soon

NickS
Contact the RSPCA local branch - they have tame vets who are paid for by them. As these are not your animals the branch may look on the problem with a bit of sympathy and will have the sort of contacts that could help with their care. Frenchieboy
If push comes to shove I have someone that is looking to rescue a pony (or possibly two) to keep their small shetland company. They will not be ridden but they will be properly cared for and live out the rest of their lives in luxury! This person has plenty of suitable land and stables available but I will obviously not give out any contact details over an open forum. If they are not claimed in a reasonable time and you really do need rid of them please contact me via PM and I will put you in touch with the person concerned! Frenchieboy
i had a phone call this morning to say they had gone they were there last night gone this morning im guessing they could poss be back but have a home for them if they do cant belive the response i had from the members on the forum was fantastic Sounds like the ****** might have been moved on and now found someone elses field to graze their ponies on free of charge! At least it is a happy ending for you and you can have your field back mate! Well done for trying to do something (legal) to resolve the situation! Just letting them out to wander on the road was not an option that any responsible person would or could have taken!
pavman
if it happens again turn them out and lock your gates, you dont know who did it and then someone will make an effort to find the owners or they will turn up. whilst they are happy grazing your field no one will give a dam, once they become a problem they will, sadly if you take any responsibility you only have yourself to blame its harsh but true Edited August 8, 2012 by pavman
Dougy
The amount of horses stolen in this country is astounding, the amount actually recovered is extremley low. Whether or not you like horses can i suggest that photos are taken and posted up somewere, you never know it may help the return of someones cherished Horse.
