anser2
During the early weeks of the season the moon does not have a lot of effect on wildfowling in my experiance. Indeed often the evening flight during the first week of the season can start several hours before sunset. But of course once the duck have been shot at a few times they soon learn to flight in the half light. Give me a dark night any time as at least you know the birds will flight at dawn or dusk , all the moon does is messes up the evening\dawn flight. I did manage a successful moonlight flight last year and managed 6 pinks , but I have spent too many freezing nights with the birds not being seen due to the lack of cloud , or the geese do not move until dawn so I do not bother too much about moonlight flighting these days. wildfowler.250
In all honesty (as anser said), don't think the full moon will make much difference for v early season

wildfowlingmad
Still dont know wether the wildfowling club im in will be able to negotiate a new lease of our marsh before then! At the moment we have no shooting so i will at home on 1st I probably wouldnt have changed any plans for the moon anyway, once there are pinks and widgeon about I want to try a moon flight because condition were never quite right for me last year or when they were i count go shooting! Hope everyone has an enjoyable start to the season!

wildfowlingmad
Heacham and North West Norfolk Wildfowlers. Basically the land owner wanted to sell the marsh this summer but not even the RSBP had the money he wanted for it so it is officially off the market. The club is now trying to arrange a new lease (last one ran out this year) It looks like were going to get it but not looking like shooting will start on the 1st... Sorry to hear that not good when Clubs lose their Fowling. Hopefully it will all get sorted if not in time for the 1st. Are there any other Clubs that way that you could join? I'm not sure wether i could take a whole season without wildfowling, I'd become an emotional wreck!
big bad lindz
Not sure what I will be doing if I am going down the shore for the early AM flights or out on the fields with decoys with my mate who is in a wheel chair. The tide is low for us up here in Dornoch next weekend so I dont know how that will play out. I have seen a few grays on cut grass fields that I know the farmer wants kept moving so that means decoying on the grass fields as the crops are not getting harvested just yet. What ever I do the WFW (wild fowling widow aka the mrs) says, as it will be silly `o clock that I will be getting up I can use the spare room so as not to disturb her. If its the fields in the morning then I will go down for the evening flight. I am sure there will be a rush and a chattering of the keyboards for the first posts of results on Saturday and no doubt he usual bragging about the one or two that got away and if I was only 50 yds further up the shore etc. Enjoy and good luck everyone.
