From the amount of shots we hear from where i was i'm not surprised someone got one

How did you get on mate did you enjoy it?, it was good to see you yesterday morning, I agree it was like WW2 on the wash where we were. The mallard we saw were too high but they were there in good numbers.

No doubt see you there again sometime :good:

I have now done three flights (soon be leaving for tonights flight too) and had just one shot at Mallard. I could of had shots last night (Saturday) but was too busy watching ducks in the sun while mallard flew over me......

There has been a few about, as Harrycat said they were a bit high even though some guns still think they have cannons and can shoot birds cleanly at 90 yards!

It was a pleasure to take Harrycat, Derbshire Dale and his friend Steve out yesterday morning. I should have been taking Bigmatt but I decided it would be easier if he went to a different part of the marsh with the warden due to the amount of guns in one area. The tide fell short of its predicted height but the new guns see the tide and how the marsh changes whenwe get the water, all part of their education. The full english breakfast after the flight was good and we shared a few stories.

The evening flight was ok, a few duck around and between us we had shots, but nothing to show for the days shooting other than passing on some important information to Dale & Steve, seeing a wonderful barn owl at close quarters hunting the sea wall were we were hiding up and watching a lone marsh harrier in the sunset.

I was up at 3am this morning as we were again to meet at Sheps at 4am. Matt Steve & Dale Matt was with me today for the morning flight. We went out a short way on the marsh and awaited eagerly, unfortunately with the moon the Mallard didnt want to show and had either decided to say inland having an extended feed or got to safety far earlier than we could get there, the moon must have assisted them. The tide was was a full one today, I took the lads off (even though we could have sat it out) so that they knew at what point to get off safely as they have no experience of the heights the water can make etc due to the affects of the weather etc. Although Steve and Dale did get a shot at what they said were Widgeon the duck were pretty much absent. A bonus was a wonderful sunrise, I will have to post them off my phone sometime.

Its been a pleasure for me to pass on some of my 30+ years experiene to the guys, I hope they have enjoyed their first experience of coastal Wildfowling, i have enjoyed their company and look forward to their next visit. I will be seeing Matt at 5pm if he's not asleep !!

Just the one Mallard for me last night. Plenty of Mallard and a skein of around 60 Greylags flying around but most of them were way out of range. The surrounding stubble fields were the main attraction with the rest opting for a local pit in the middle of nowhere.

The more I use the Remington Steel the more I prefer it over Gamebore!! :hmm:

Lots of other wildlife about which made for a very enjoyable evening flight. My next planned trip is Thursday Evening then its the Game fair at Sandringham so a good week to look forward to!!

I enjoyed the flight Saturday morning Graham but how you put up with the chuckle brothers for two more flights I will never know

I bet Mat wondered what he had let himself in for

Still not gone out yet, I'm happy to let the silly weekend pass without me, it will be a while before numbers buil;d anyway. Apparently parts of the harbour sounded like the Somme in '44....bag reports seem to be a bit thin on the ground though!

I will be shooting Sundays when the weather/tides suit, I don't care what day of the week it is, if it's on, it's on!

Not that I know the second thing about 'fowling (the first being how not to walk across mud!), but I will learn a load more this year and I do understand the effect of wind and tide quite well as a sea angler which helps.

Fair play! That's the way to go :good:

I'm out tomorrow and I can't be bothered. Don't know what that makes me? Think I just love my bed too much!

Up at 4:15, been home, showered, cleaned the gun and i'm in work now. Bagged a nice drake mallard but should have had more. I had some gun malfunction, which I think was user error! Not pumping hard enough
