It's not that long ago we didn't have our own little area on here but thanks to the mods we now have our bit. The numbers posting have gradually grown and we see new names coming along and joining the interesting debates and topics. I find it brilliant to listen to many views and thoughts from all parts of the country, and abroad too. It's good because I have had the pleasure of meeting some of you and shooting with you. I can't recall any negative comments since we started up, which is a credit to everyone. So for all the above comments I think this is maybe the best thread on here. Thanks to the moderators for creating this area for us, we told you it would be worthwhile. Your thoughts please.

Yes ditto that, I'm starting out my wildfowling career and whilst I'm not sure I'll ever be as hardcore as some people it's a fascinating branch of shooting and has many disciplines which I think cross over to many other types of shooting.

I supported the request for a separate section and I really think it's paying off.

And I shot my first duck last weekend, using none other than an AYA No.3!

No,it's rubbish compared to Off Topic which is by far better than the shooting things with webbed feet and fly as fast as one of Richard Bransons hot air balloons, but are easier to shoot. So there.

Just thought due to a lack of whingers and idiots on it i would take up residence and add some sanity.

By far the best section.

You can always tell when the 'fowling season is about to start as people ask all sorts of questions about quarry, cartridges, guns, equipment, and safety on the marshes.

We're regaled with stories of trips out in the mud, the rain, the wind and the snow. We talk of long walks and the haunting calls of distant geese in the early morning light. The whistling of wings as the ducks pass by, in range but out of sight as darkness falls on a cold winters evening.

We talk of all the other sights and sounds only an early morning trip to the foreshore can provide.

On the other hand you always know when the game season is about to start...as everyone wants to know the best tweed to wear!! :ermm:

I think the best thing about this section of the forum is the number of potential new fowlers it seems to be introducing to the fine art of wildfowling. Like most fowlers i'm happy to be sat alone on mile after mile of foreshore but the sport needs to encourage and introduce new people to the marsh if its to continue.

I've enjoyed reading about others trips to the shore and look forward to more and more as the season really gets underway :good:

I haven`t been a member of PW for that long. But one of the reasons I did join was because of the seperate Wildfowling section.

Although I occasionally do post in other sections and i do enjoy shooting the odd pheasant and pigeon, wildfowling remains my main interest and always will be. At the moment I`m concentrating on shooting my inland washes, but still have lots of banter with the coastal boys. In such a short amount of time I`ve already made new friends and contacts. So for me the Wildfowling section is the best!!!.

All shooters love their hobby and many are keen to share, and generous with their time and knowledge, not least wildfowlers. That is perhaps why they are so often keen to help newcomers to enjoy the sport they love so much.

Totally agree mate, I`ve been Fowling for 28 yrs and still get a buzz when taking someone new out. :good:
