3p in the greater scheme of things is nothing.

Let's forget this metric nonsense for a minute and get back to proper measures.

I currently pay £6.58 per gallon and that poxy 3p takes it down to £6.44.

It's not worth the diversion.

Metrication was and is used to hide all sorts of nasty stings and make things seem better than they really are.

apperentley asda is cutting upto 3 p a litre off fuel. as of tommorow it will cost no more than 135.7 for petrol and 139.7 for diesel. :yahoo:

3p?

3 sodding p?

That's what, £1.50 off a 50 liter fill, you can't even buy a half for that.

I once saw a huge line of cars queuing for petrol and station that was going out of business, they slashed there price from £1.10/l to £1.00. People where waiting for about to 40 mintues to save like £4.

I know they say 'looking after the pennies and the pounds look after themselves' but frankly in the case of petrol in ********, but then again give it another 8 years and we'll all be going on about the good old days when petrol was 'only' £1.50/liter.

Oh come on, the great metrication downsize when your quarter pounds went down to 100g with no price difference, Tins and packaging following the same way.

Prices rounded up, weights rounded down.

If fuel was still sold by the gallon I bet there would be far more howls of protests over the price than now. I would also wager the rises would have been harder to pass on for the same reason.

In the good old days we had 240 old pence to the pound, now we have 100. We measured fuel in gallons which is roughly 4.54 litres. We don't blink nowadays when a rise of 1p per litre is announced, back in the good old days that'd been a rise of 10.89 old pence, nearly a shilling, and I don't think the fuel companies would have got away with it then. We've increased the minimum unit of currency and reduced the size of measurement and been shafted because of it.
