Gregthegreat
Popped out with the .223 last night. Now I knew there were a few rats about but I'd never had a proper look so whilst having a walk round I stopped for a few minutes. I started recording after I'd been still for about a minute at the most. I've been on the lookout for a multishot PCP rifle combo for around the £300 mark but this has fuelled the fire! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LyAfMk4jg1g&feature=plcp

Gregthegreat
What NV and recording device did you use? It's a DIY build with an Odicforce IR iluminator. I'll PM you pics.
steve_b_wales
I've got the Odicforce illuminator, bought recently. I have the NiteSite NS200, and I'm looking for a suitable (cheapish) way of recording my shooting.
Gregthegreat
Ah OK, I use a mini DVR as my screen so record straight on that. Edit: Maybe a mini DVR from Maplin? Edited October 7, 2012 by Gregthegreat

Gregthegreat
wasnt you just a little bit tempted greg Of course I was! I was out after foxes though and taking a shot at a rat would have scared anything in the vicinity. I'll save them for another time... Gregthegreat
just use ur 22lr greg It would spook the pheasants too much mate. It'd be fine in the off season but a bit much at the minute to sit there firing so many shots.

al4x
there would be no issue shooting them with a .22lr at night as lets face it the pheasants will be at roost in a wood at that point. However what you have is a health hazard for beaters, they will be climbing the maize and peeing everywhere which is hazardous. Then you have the amount of food they eat personally on our shoot the bait boxes would have been out a while by now and the problem sorted out before they have even more time to reproduce. Exactly - they'll be at roost in the wood and the keeper, nor I, want to knock them off the roost which is why I said I'm on the look out for a PCP air rifle as it won't disturb them anywhere near as much. Especially this close to the start of the season on this shoot where there's still potential for them to decide to roost elsewhere - possibly off the shoot. http://forums.pigeon...control-advice/ Aha!
