red_stag88
I was wondering what knives people used for what purpose? I use a stainless opinel for my rabbits and tree rats. I paunch them in the feild, its usefull to have with you, it goes in my wax when beating etc. Costs little so if i lose it is just an annoyance not a second morgage. For deer we use buck knives and a Whitetail Skinner from the states.
Pigeon Pieman
Hi Red, I have a Buck knife (folding) for deer, a craft knife for paunching in the field and a Leatherman Juice mulit tool that I carry everywhere. The juice is v small and fits easily in a pocket. For butchering game etc I use a set of butcher's knives
leon
Anyone use a knife with a gut hook? if so what are they like, and anyone know who does a cheaper one the only ones i can find are around £60 and thats a bit much to sit in my pocket when out lamping clambering over fences and the like, and I'll probably loose it within a month or two. Hammergun
I like the Buck 110 folder. Only drawback is that it takes a bit of effort to keep it hygienic. After gutting and dismembering bunnies it soon gets sticky.

squirrelhunter
I use a 5 1/2 inch stainless sheath knife with a curved blade and serated back edge and has a hard rubber grip, does most jobs in the field.

roalm
I got one of those DMT diamond sharpening gizmo's. Sharpened my gralloching knife with it last night. Doesnt take much effort to get a very keen edge. Now that the blood has stopped flowing, I think I will sharpen up the rest of my collection of blunt knifes. Brilliant tool but pricey. brain dead
Red Stag i think Buzz was talking about his knife not his combine!!Duuurrr!!well to be fair it wud get a nice shave with the clippers and then minced nicely, then when finished pop into a grain trailer and there you have it. Red,have you got any further with purchasing that knife from attleborough?
