Lanber Shotguns

Hi folks, just wondering if anyone has bought a NEW Lanber shotgun recently (i.e. over the past 3 or 4 years)?

I owned a Lanber previously (O/U), which i'd bought S/H. I thought it was a pretty well made gun, but on the cheaper end of the scale, obviously. This one I'd hazard a guess was around 1995 or so.

Basically, looking for anyone who has a new one and can let me know if the build quality has remained similar or has suffered in recent years?

Yes, I bought a Sporter Deluxe a couple of months ago.

The build quality seems good but there again I'm pretty new to the sport and don't have a large frame of reference, that said other shooters who have looked at it have said it is a nice shotgun.

The only issue I have found with it was the weight of the trigger pull, as standard you could hang the gun off the trigger without it firing (snap caps in). That was sorted by Hopkins in Sandbach who said that not only was it a heavy pull but also long as well but this was down to it being primarily designed for US shooters.

It now has a much smoother trigger pull :good:

Overall I'm more than happy with it, it goes bang in the direction I point it and if I'm lucky it occasionally breaks a clay or two ^_^

I bought a new one 5 years ago . It still goes bang when I pull the trigger . It hits everything I point it at . If it doesn't then it was my fault not the guns . If I scratch it at that money it won't break my heart . It's a great well made gun for the money

There will be lots of people along shortly who will say buy a second hand browning or beretta .

A Beretta S686 in great condition for not much more?

Sounds like you got a nice deal, I'm looking for something like that :)

the seller must of had no knowledge of guns because that is a give away!!! They dont come round at that price often unless its worn out!

Lanber's have a reputation for being a tad heavy - which is true, but this helps with recoil etc. New, they come with a long warranty (10 years IIRC).

Beretta's are nice, but round my way they're know as a bit of a girls gun... :yp:

I'll disregard that as your sig reads:

Toys:

.22 Webley Nemesis

12g Lanber Sporting Deluxe

12g Hatsan Escort PS

12g Hatsan MPA-24

:hmm::lol:

Touche  - admittedly it's a bit of a 'walt' gun. I bought it for PSG as I thought it'd be better than the Escort PS - but to tell the truth, the extra bling doesn't really do anything, and instead, just makes it something I wouldn't take to a clay ground. :(

Lol, "Walt gun" ...that cheered me up reading that.

I've looked at them too, but unless you do PSG it'd look out of place pretty much anywhere including a rough shoot, where you'd probably invite a fly-by from the local police helicopter after Rambler X reported "a nutter with an assault rifle lurking in the bushes"

What do they handle like?

Good overall - strangely, despite the barrel being 4" shorter, it's actually half a kilo heavier than the standard Escort. :eh:

The pistol grip is a tad small for me - I'm about 6'5" with shovel-hands, and there's a lip at the bottom which means hands above an 'XL' glove size will struggle.

Only other criticism is that the rear 'ghost ring' sight has quite a lot of play - probably a mm or two - not great for precision shooting with slugs etc. I'm planning to space the gap with some washers.

Maybe in light of that I should either look at the 'Revo' equivalent or save up and buy a Benelli M3 Super 90?
