Paxtond
you will need to buy target ammo. your FAC will not allow expanding ammo for target work only hunting
Albert 888
Not sure as it will be my first time at this range. was thinking of taking both but would rather sight my scope to right ammo first. the eley tend to shoot low for some reason in my riffle. SakoQuad
Apart from expanding generally not being allowed for target shooting there is also the question of the extra damage it does to Linatex if your new range uses it. Aquila Standard is cheap and groups well if you can get it - strange smell though!
Paxtond
i use eley match if target shooting with the 1918 @ £7 a box or rws club if I'm just plinking with the cz452 @ £3 a box
moor man
Hi Albert, check your clubs website, they may have details of the Range Certificate, this will clarify which calibres can be used and if there are any energy/velocity restrictions. You could drop a line to the club secretary or just ring him? If you buy ammo at the club no prob. Enjoy your range day, if its anything like my club youll love it, lots of reloaders to pester with questions and an opportunity to try other stuff, keep us posted.regards jon

Any and every club/range will have their own rules, you will have to check with them for a definitive answer. ...and as someone else mentioned, you will not be popular if you damage any Linatex
Albert 888
Ok guys thanks for the info been intouch with the club, no expanding ammo at this range so I went to my other range bought some eley sport and re adjusted my scope to suit. I do like the sport ammo very good for the money 15 out of 20 shots at a 3mm dot shot it out or touching, 5 shots no more than 5mm h/c away. This was off a bench sitting with bipod,,So im ouite happy. Cheers for the help Albert.
Catweazle
I've recently tried Lapua Centre X, it's good in my 452, touching holes at 50yds.

Some indoor ranges don't allow the use of hollow point ammo. This is because it unduly wears out the splash curtain by cutting little holes in it. Linatex splash curtains are horrendously expensive! Some types of range don't need it though, all depends on the design of the bullet catcher. J.
JonathanL
you will need to buy target ammo. your FAC will not allow expanding ammo for target work only hunting You can use them at a range if you are already allowed to possess them. The condition on the FAC is worded such that you are allowed to have them in connection with the shooting of bunnies, deer etc. If you are zeroing your rifle or practicing with it, for instance, you are using the ammo in connection with the shooting of rabbits, etc. Shooting a formal competition with it would probably be out but most other things are ok.
