Iphone 5 vs Iphone 4S

One for Billy/Iphone guru's,

I am up for renewal and on Vodafone at the moment - they seem to get the best coverage where I am and want an Iphone - I currently have a 4 and have had the 3gs in the past and the wife has a 3gs, Vodafone have offered a 4S for both of us for £33/month each with no charge for the handset with everything unlimited basically, and said if I wanted the 5 it would be around the same per month and a cost of £140 for the handset, the guy from Vodafone said the 5's really arent worth the extra dosh and that the big jump was from the 4 to the 4s so he recommended I went with that deal which I did and the phones will be here in 3-5 days but now I am thinking should I cancel this and shop around?

So opinions on the Iphone 4s vs 5 and the contract deal i got?

I should add I do have a few docking stations and things around the house that I use regularly and I was told the 5 will not fit any of these so I would need to change them.

my phone is used mostly for calls, texts and sitting surfing porn the net/PW and as a camera pretty regularly.

Regards,

Gixer

Had a look at a work colleague's 5... Doesn't seem as sturdy as my 4 tbh, and he couldn't really tell me what it does (that he actually uses) better than the 4 he had previously.

He pays £45 p/m for his, which I regard as pretty steep. When my contract is up in February, i'll be sticking the 4 on a £10.50 Vodaphone tariff :good: Until something catches my eye.

I had a 4, mrs has a 4s and I now have the 5.

The 5 is a bit quicker and the camera is a bit better but there is not much in it. If you want a bigger screen then you should have gone for the 5.

I'm with 3 and I get up to 13mb unlimited broadband through my iPhone 5 so I don't see the need to a 4g contract.

There's not much in it, aside from the weight and a bit better processor.

The 5 dents a lot more. The aluminium is supple in comparison to the metal (unsure of what metal it is) on the 4S, but the weigh off is that the back of the 5 won't smash, but it will scratch :rolleyes:

If you're considering 4G and therefore aiming for the iPhone 5, you better open up your wallet, as you'll smash through the (newly released) 8GB data plan in a matter of minutes, if you like to watch films.

Bearing in mind I'm not running 4G, my last three months were circa 2GB of data and that's using iTunes Match to hold my music in the cloud.

Oh and I'd wait until everyone's adopted the new charging cable. Believe me, it's like a needle in a haystack trying to find someone with a charger when you really need one..!

Before everyone slates them for bringing out a new charging cable, remember it's one cable change in nine years. Samsung have released 18 different chargers in nine years...

Micro USB is too slow, before anyone says.

To be honest mate i would shop about i got a 4s unlimited everything from t mobile for £18 per month, Its worth looking into.

Can you link me to this deal? The mrs is getting a 4s, the two best deals were tesco mobile -£100 for the phone then £20 a month contract (5,000 txt, 750min, 1gb data) =£580 over 2years.

The other deal was o2, no upfront cost just £26 a month for unlimited txt & mins & 1gb data. =£624.

I should also add I have a sure signal so wanted to stay with vodafone - although I think i'll try leaning on them to get the monthly price down a tounch as my new deal works out as £792 for the 2 years.

I also notice you can get a 30 pin to Lightning adaptor for £12 off the net....http://www.evertop.co.uk/p/8225496/-Pin-iPhone-Lightning-to--Pin-Adapter-Dock-Connector-for-iPhone-.html?gclid=CM6g-6rM8bMCFcG_3godYWsAEw

Do you really want to carry that around with you? I'll give it a week before that's lost.

The reason they released that was for docks on stereos, rather than as a charging adaptor. Granted, it'll probably still work as a charger, but seems a bit silly to carry round.

Great post as i'm looking to renew a contract/ pass of as wifes xmas present.

Tesco mobile have 4s and 5 on o2 at £36 pcm. I thought this was a pretty good deal. unlim txt/calls and 1gb data. 4s was free and 5 was £25 upfront.

Workscheme means I get £65 cashback too.

At £25 the 5 seems the one to get

Looking on the tesco website I can't see the deals you mention. Have you got a link?

Well this is interesting! Slight error that it is Tesco phone shop and not mobile, but I get the deal when I access through my work scheme and it is not there when I access direct
