Mr pigeon
Hi people me and a mate were just talking and we wondered if there is a actual month when the pigeon shooting is better? Any thoughts, favourite months etc Cheers
matty*
My favorite time of year to shoot pigeons is just after the game season is finished on cut maze covers to me you cant beat it, 2nd would be on the stubbles after harvest time. Actionpigeons
love it all the time, but between the 1st of July and the 1 October , that's the best of the weather and when I have most birds on my shooting land.
Killshott
Same here, on the stubble and just after harvest but also during cold snaps on early rape/mustard crops on my permission. If the snow comes thius week there should be some about.
Dr D
I love it in the winter, right now and January. The bags might not be as large as harvest/spring. But I just can't get enough of seeing a flock of 100+ swinging into the deeks. Edited December 10, 2012 by Dr D

Asa Bear
I can get out more often in the warmer months but I love it any time of the year.
motty
I have shot big bags in every month of the year, but i find i shoot the bulk of my good bags between March and October.
fenboy
I guess it depends on what crops you have on your ground , if you have nothing that is attractive to the pigeon then any month can be poor . My best period tends to be from March on either rape or spring drillings moving onto peas towards the end of april right through the summer then onto the stubbles through till October. The Ghost
I have lived in Cumbria, Worcester, Oxfordshire, Northumbria & now Cambridgeshire and have never seen as many Pigeon as you have on the Fens. My wife complains that they are all over the trees at the back of our house & they are waiting for the washing going out. You live in a great area for wildlife, in Cumbria we grow Cows and pigeon don't tend to eat that many of them. When the rest of the country was under water this year, birds flocked to the Fens & will return in 2013 (those you and Fenny never shot).
