il cacciatore
You have to take into consideration the circumstances in which he made that statement and I believe this is directly related to the labour leadership race. He has to further is career so is making a populist statement which does not mean anything in particular other than generating support for his bid. He isnt going to introduce a law to stop them from wearing them he just merely said that he thinks they shouldnt wear them which are too seperate things entirely. http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk_politics/5411954.stm

Ferret Master
Hi, I have nowt against Islam in general but in our country we are scared of upsetting the minority rather than looking after the majority. This is Britain, if you don't like it, GET OUT! An example of this is Muslim's being allowed to wear a full face veil on a drivers licence. How the hell are you supposed to be able to identify someone without being able to see their face? Isn't that the whole point of a photograph? It is a sad fact that in our retarded country we are so politically correct about offending other religions that we are sacrificing our country's religion which is christianity, not any other religion. Some council's now can't say Christmas and have to say 'Winter Break' lest they offend those who don't celebrate Christmas. You can bet that they will not change the names of ethnic minority festivals though because they can't offend them, just the native English religion. We then have to put up with nursery school's changing 'baa baa black sheep' to 'baa baa rainbow sheep' incase it is considered racist to call something that is black, black. I have never seen a rainbow coloured sheep, plenty of black ones though. I believe if the Tories get in David Cameron said hes going to appoint somebody to look into extreme forms of political correctness in society before we have to get permission in advance to say anything incase if offends people. Right, that is far too much ranting for a child on a Saturday night... FM
Cranfield
if young whits lads where walking round with hoods over there faces the old bill would pull em all the time. but........................................ Have you never been to a Hunt Meet and seen the protesters/monitors, with their combat outfits and full face balaclavas, designed to intimidate ? The Police don't arrest them. njc110381
I'm not all that bright on the subject, but was having an interesting conversation with my boss the other day. He was telling me about his wife, and a friend of hers, going to one of these countries where the women have to cover up. His wife has been several times and understands the local ways, but her friend was new to it all. After being told it was a bad idea, this woman decided to check out the local market in her usual strap top and skirt that she wears here. They only got a few yards out of where they were staying, before the local men started spitting on her Can you imagine the fuss if we follow suit

Was he out of order........................IMHO Yes. I think it just goes to show how bloody stupid some people are. Culture is Culture,,,,,,,,,,,everyone is different, yes there is a time and a place where IDs need to be checked, but a man should not ask a woman who is veiled to reveal herself. As for this being the cause for "barriers" within the communities, what a load of tosh.......There are a few more serious problems out there than muslim women being veiled......... Politics and religion..............blimey who started this one.............
Devon Fox
The whole problem with the current situation as it stands, is that brain dead people will be voting BNP etc and the racists will get on the case. I honestly believe we need to respect everyone and everything, however i do believe that "positive discrimination" is a bad as negative and causes bad feeling. We are all humans, live and let live, but we all must obey the law without exception as far as id is concerend, no matter what are religons and beliefs. I am off too say my Jedi prayers! markbivvy
brain dead people will be voting BNP etc and the racists will get on the case. sorry hot shot but i dont see it that way, shall we all vote labour for them to ruin us a bit more. or the cons, they did well last time in. bnp wont win, but a few votes there way may make the other pr atts think. We are all humans, live and let live. pity the bombers dont see it that way. did you lose friends or relatives in london or abroad.
Devon Fox
You cant tar all people as the same can you? Otherwise shooting will be condemed the next time a loony goes on the loose, because the general public will think all gun owners are potential nutters. The one and only chance our planet has, is if we all work and get along together (wont happen though will it? ) I think as far as legal implications, everyone should abide by our law while in our country period, no allowences whats-so-ever based on religous grounds, as for voting ..... hmmmm BNP i think not! markbivvy
You cant tar all people as the same can you? a very large % of the current bombers have been made in Britain. schooled in to many mosques that are springing up everywhere you look, you cant honestly say there friends and family knew nothing about it. Otherwise shooting will be condemned the next time a loony goes on the loose, it always is. The one and only chance our planet has, is if we all work and get along together (wont happen though will it? not while night follows day. I think as far as legal implications, everyone should abide by our law while in our country period, no allowances whats-so-ever based on religious grounds. but they dont mate thats why there is so much discontent, they want all the rules changing, but just to benefit them. hmmmm BNP i think not! well tell me another that might get us out of the very big hole we are in. please
Devon Fox
The problem is, everyone goes to extremes! Drive all muslims out of the country, ban all guns, ban all Rotweilers etc etc ..... where do you draw the line? As for voting, i dont have the answers there i am afraid, but its not a simple as driving everyone out of the country that we do not like the look of! Man this is to heavy for a Saturday night ! pin
I think we lost this one a long time ago, back in the late 70's I thin it was we allowed seikh's to not wear crash helmets on motorbikes (because of turbans) Fine I say, but if they come off then they pay for the cost of any head injury out of their own pocket. This is not a islamic state, this is England. If a non-islmaic English woman went to a place which was an islamic state she would have to cover up and behave as women in that place would - no aguments. Same here as far as I am concerned. Nothing in the Koran says cover up completely, this is yet more extremism imposed by extremely strict practitioners of islam. The koran states that a woman should be "modestly dressed". In some places then this may mean covered up, in the UK any clothes at all is modest (in some places . When in Rome and all that....

Devon Fox
Thought we were giving up on this ! I have never taught a muslim as yet, but friends of mine in London have taught plenty, they have a more see threw type veil .... like a net curtain. I am led to believe that the type of head gear in the photo is a really old fashioned version, most modern muslims dont wear full headgear. One fella i know was booked for a lesson, when he turned up the family went ape.... would not allow her to be alone with a male, she had to have her mother sit in to make sure she was safe! As for obstructing the screen ..... i would like to inspect all of your geezers trucks ..... if its anything like our shooting Landy, **** all over !!! markbivvy
this is true. mate of mine asked if his mate could come out lamping one night. in my motor me driving, my mate lamping in the passengers side said shooter in the back so he can shoot out of both back windows.gers to the farm, i tell lad to get out and load his gun, he gets back in, chambers a round and blows the windscreen straight out. he had a long walk home, and was lucky he could walk. but, i told this tale to a gamekeeper i know, his reply was. ive done it twice with the 243.
