fortune
Hello & welcome. Sorry to put a bit of a downer on your hopes of a golden memory day of shooting with your wife but there is one minor problem. The wood pigeon is a wild bird that does not drive like a game bird. NO ONE can guarantee pigeon shooting no matter how much money is put on the table. The best that can be offered is that you can get permission to shoot over a crop that is being attacked by the pigeon. Now there are loads of pigeon shooters on here that are either asking for shooting or are complaining that they have paid out good money to shoot the crop ravaging hoards of pigeon only to sit out on a field all day with hardly a shot. It is a situation of time spent observing what the birds are doing and where they are flying. You might be lucky and have a red-hot day but you may experience a no shot day. I remember having a newly sown field of beans that had started to attract birds. Saturday was the planned day and the kit was deployed and the pattern set out. Sadly I sat there most of the day without seeing a bird as far as the eye could see. The vids on youtube show great sport but they don’t show the shooters sitting waiting all day with nothing. It doesn’t make for good entertainment. Now for the good bit. You are on a site where there is great friend ship and help from many very knowledgeable people that will only be very willing to advise you of the what, why and how of the situation without spending a fortune or without putting you in a bad situation. There is a lot of information of the rules and regs regarding shooting in this country. All the best to you and your wife and enjoy the site.
