amishboy
We are all aware that "Active" airguns are not allowed to be posted but must, under the law, be sold F2F or via a RFD. Are deactivated air pistols allowed to be sent through the post? Part 2: How easy is it to deactivate an air pistol? Lawson
robbiep
a private individual can send an air weapon through the post to another private individual, the restriction only applies to RFDs. I'm happy to be corrected if wrong

I'm happy to be corrected if wrong Nope you are right , its not illegal for a private individual to post a working airgun , though about the only service you can use is royal mail special delivery , and they are now trying to make it as hard as possible by decreasing the parcel size limits. Rimfireboy
If you box it up, take it to the post office and send it by parcelforce. They can offer insurance on it if its worth a bit. I think you're covered up to 34 quid standard post.

amishboy
Flummoxed! Other sites say F2F or FRD only, others say private individual sales no problems and I have even seen posts that say "Wrap the pistol in a box, bubble wrapped and taped securely inside and write Optical Equipment on the box!!!! I shall ring the local Firearms officer tomorrow and get the straight deal on this. No way in the world am I going to break the law for a simple plinker and risk my Shotgun Certificate!!!!! Thanks for your help chaps! I shall post the advice of the local officer here tomorrow for all to see Lawson
secretagentmole
It is perfectly legal to send a gun via the mail or courier to another shooter as long as you know they are a) Over 18 and B) Not banned from having a firearm (ie they have not had a jail sentence of over 5 years),
amishboy
That said, anyone live near the Newport South Wales with a cheap(ish) aifr pistol for sale?
robbiep
go to : http://www.legislation.gov.uk/ukpga/2006/38/contents Part 2, section 32 makes it very clear that the F2F only applies to 'trade' sales It is perfectly legal to send a gun via the mail or courier to another shooter as long as you know they are a) Over 18 and B) Not banned from having a firearm (ie they have not had a jail sentence of over 5 years), 3 year prison sentence makes you prohibited person for life, not

Gnome of the Woods
RMSD only, if you send it any other way you will be breaking the carriers terms and conditions and have no come back if lost or damaged. jamiedenny
royal mail is fine but you should get the individual to confirm they are allowed as described above. But if your buying then all is fine as long as you trust the inidividual.
