We've thought about Antigua, can you recommend a resort?

Not cheap, went without the kids for our 15 year anniversary. Verandah resort and spar all inclusive, great food very safe swimming and water sports, premium drinks brands and champane included.

I have recommended to a few people who have all loved it.

What's the food like mate?? And the beaches look good...going with the family as well so my dads going to be fishing...

Good food!! when u stay in the divi u get to use the restraint in the sister hotel tamarin ( thats when i stayed there) ...there's a hut that servers pizza and chips all day by the pools. ice crem makers for the kids and a lot of bars.. I went deep sea fishing it's a must.. There's a bit in the sea where pelicans sit near one of the bars .. A good trip out is you get in the party boat to an island and snorkle among blue parrot fish :good:

Thanks rimfire, this looks really nice - are there any bars/restaurants in the vicinity or are you pretty much restricted to the resort?

There is another hotel around the corner, also a small bar that does food in between. 30 mins in a cab will get you to St. John's the capital. It really is a great place to stay and will go back myself one day soon.

+2 for a cruise

I have been on two Caribbean cruises and they were good, but having a brother who was a 3rd officer driving the huge cruise ships for the last 2 years you would never ever get me on one again. The stories I have heard are rediculous and it is a miracle that the costa Concordia thing has been the only disaster.

You see lots of places on a cruise, but have very limited time in each.

lying between the Pitons with a nice cold beer, what better place to be. :good:

Perhaps it was because it was home and not a holiday but Barbados was just... well.... grubby to me.. a hot version of england but take a step back from the beaches and it just wasn't exotic at all.. I used to stop over on the odd occasion in St Lucia as I flew to Trinidad every week and St Lucia pulled ALL the strings Barbados didn't.. exotic, tropical, sexy etc... My favourite place was Trinidad more because it felt 'real' but not a holiday destination, it is an industrial dusty island, although the rain forest is wonderful.. Tobago is quite nice thoiugh.. nothing like Trini!

If you want truly tropical, why not look at the Grenadines and hire a small yacht!
