motty
I need some help. A couple of flights ago i lost my wigeon call when i pulled a hat out of my jacket pocket. It was one of the old brass types. I probably won't get many chances to use one, but i'd still like to buy a new call before this season ends. So, which wigeon calls have you found to be the best? Reabrook
I still don't think you can beat the traditional brass call for widgeon. I've tried a few others but always gone back to these http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/TRADITIONAL-BRASS-WIGEON-DUCK-CALL-Wildfowling-European-Widgeon-Whistle-/120994829618?pt=UK_SportingGoods_Hunting_ShootingSports_ET&hash=item1c2bda9532
rusticola
I still don't think you can beat the traditional brass call for widgeon. I've tried a few others but always gone back to these http://www.ebay.co.u...=item1c2bda9532 Especially effective with a 35mm film canister taped on the end! Wildfowler12
As above, IMO these are far more effective than any whistle/call I've ever come across eBay is the place to get them quick! I lost mine on the foreshore last week, bought another from the above link and had a replacement in 2days!
mudpatten
Get a Buck Gardner 6 in1 call. It will also do a drake mallard, a teal and a pintail plus some other stuff unrelated to fowling. Main thing is, it`s very loud by comparison to most of the brass calls where the bird needs to be on top of you before it can hear the call. Wildfowler12
Get a Buck Gardner 6 in1 call. I've got one of these too, I think its great, but I find myself using the brass whistle more often. It sounds more realistic and i'd say the brass one is louder too. Big Mat
I've got one i made from two cartridge ends, was almost as good as the brass trumpet ones untill it got full of mud...
rusticola
Get a Buck Gardner 6 in1 call. It will also do a drake mallard, a teal and a pintail plus some other stuff unrelated to fowling. Main thing is, it`s very loud by comparison to most of the brass calls where the bird needs to be on top of you before it can hear the call. Have the same call, but strap a film canister to the end of the traditional brass whistle and it is louder than the Buck Gardner.

I've tried a few others but always gone back to these http://www.ebay.co.u...=item1c2bda9532 Do these brass calls make the same sound as the circular ones? I have the circular brass call and it works fine but I cant put it on a lanyard which is a pain

Solder a piece of thick copper wire from a ring main cable in a loop! Then attach a lanyard!! TEH
ayano3
Get one of those little closed hook things fishermen use on swim feeders and attach the call via the small ring to your lanyard.
Big Al
I have a Buck Gardiner 6 in 1. Very easy to use and loud. As well as that I always make and keep a few of the old style 2 brass cartridge heads in the pockets of all of my shooting coats during the season (just in case) Only cartridge heads arent brass any more and can rust pdq. A light rubbing of olive oil helps a bit though.
