Something a bit new perhaps?

I know there are a lot of people who visit the airgun forum on here not just for pest controll. But i had an idea the other night, copied from things ive seen from other forums.

Provided this is all OK with mods and forums rules and there is sufficient interest, I propose on a monthly or quarterly postal competition amongst members. The layout i propose would be of three classes; 10 yard, to allow those with smaller gardens to compete. 45 yard, for more of a challenge, And an Extreme class, which will be anything from shooting polo's to long range targets, pistol or night shooting.

The competition will be informal, and free to enter, and entrys will be made in response to the monthly or quarterly post that sets out the rules of each class.

Hopefully this will run off the good will of pigeon watch members who wont shoot a target at point blank to win - to be fair most people are decent enough shots to not need to.

Depending on interest, we may be able to work out a propper "postal" with an entry fee, all proceeds of which will go to a winner. But just testing the water.

Provided there is sufficient interest i will make the first Pigeon watch postal thread in time for February.

Let me know what you think, and state your interest.

Sorry but I just cannot see where it will work .

As in all walks of life there is always someone willing to cheat and I am afraid I very much doubt it will be any different on this occasion.

And for that reason ---------------------------------------------------------- I'm out :sad1:

ill stick a post up for february and see how we get on, there is really no incentive to win, hopefully people who bother entering are past cheating and nonsense.Yeh there will be some banter, but at the end of the day if one month your entry isnt how you would like it to be, dont cheat, stick up what youve achieved, and maybee some more experienced shooters can give those struggeling some help. It would be nice if this was just a friendly thing to do occaisionally.

Post for the first on i will put up tonight, all materials will be linked and downloadable. Informal, fun, not massively competative, hopefully we can use this to help people who much struggle ect, nothing too challenging for the first one it will just be a test - to see how many people bother and how the logistics all pan out.

I think we can forgive a yard - As stated its informal and fun, if noone gets involved it stops being fun, show off your skills - or lack off ( my entry for the 40 yard class OOPS dont think ill be hunting for a while ) and submitt an entry. The competition is stickyed, ill look forward to seeing your entrys guys, i really want to do the Extreme class but i cannot find a decent enough camera.

well if this was under general shooting matters,it would cover all bases.with it being a postal type comp it would be easy to submit all the results together ideally- air rifle, rifle (22lr for me),long barreled pistol and black powder pistol.then if theres plenty of interest anyone thats interested and wanting to have a go could get intouch with people that are local to them and try it for themselves (obviously the shooters that using club ranges)
