al4x
I think in the majority of cases it seems that Sportsman Gun have performed pretty well Of personal visitors it sounds like the mail order side is pretty useless from most people's experiences
njc110381
I went into their Devon branch when I was down there on holiday right in the early days of applying for my FAC. All they wanted to do was sell me a Mannlicher when I was asking about Tikka's, but to give them credit they were helpful enough and polite and held plenty of stock. The mail order side really is the poor point. Worse than poor, it's bloody hopeless. Especially if things go wrong. And the staff at the old Litts site are nowhere near as good - they wanted to see my FAC to sell me brass and wanted to write it on too! bruno22rf
I bought a CZ.22lr from them about 15 years ago and had promosed myself that, because of the great service,If ever I bought another new gun I would give them my custom.Last August I ordered a LH Browning 525 with 28" multi and awaited delivery. After 2 weeks I rang and was told that there were no guns of this spec in the UK and that they were ordering one from Browning in Belgium (who had just one left). After waiting a further 4 weeks I rang only to be told that Browning actually did not have an example and that I would have to wait for delivery of the next production run.I cancelled the order and rang Avalon guns the following monday morning.Gun arrived that thursday-they simply swapped the stock from a LH 30" and put it onto a 28"RH gun. Ocean
Useless mail order. Always out of stock, but don't tell you until after you have paid!
Whitebridges
I ordered two Anshutz magazines .22LR (5) and .17HMR (4 rounds) mail order. Simple. No, hideous balls ups. I'll never use them again.

wymberley
While we're busy shopping, if anyone who knows which Newtown i'm on about needs anything buying/fetching/bringing up, I'll be up for a flying visit the weekend of March 15. Not too big though as we'll be in the sports car.
