Will Poon
That's good to know; any -ve points? if there's anything negative about the SXP is the LOP is abit too short or me, and it didn't come with any shim/spacers. As a gun that I use for abit of fun at my club I'm not going to loose too much sleep over it
kev56
Hi guys not a pump owner but been following this thread, very interesting. Couple of questions, being left handed (most of the greats in the world are) would it be difficult to shoot a right handed pump. Apparently a semi would not be a problem. Secondly what would you consider to be the best / most desirable gun, in case i go down that road when i win on the horses this weekend. thanks . As a gun that I use for abit of fun at my club I'm not going to loose too much sleep over it can you adjust by making your own spacers and putting them between the end of the butt and butt pad? I ask because when I've got a bit more spare cash I'd like to swap my old mossy 500 for something new and the SXP is about the only one that grabs my eye... nice clean modern lines. thepasty
going by this thread no new pumps have that MUST have feel to them, the Remington Wingmaster is regarded highly in pump land... I'd certainly like one.... remember pumps are cheap compared to the usual high cost semi's or O&U's

When shooting the pumps my trigger hand nearly touches my nose upon recoil, all in good fun though
thepasty
think my mossy 500 is 14" lop and it could do with being a little longer, looks like the stock and butt pad are one piece on the sxp?
sir jasper
Thanks for the input on the Winchester SXP. The positive comments helped convince me to purchase one. Phoned the local gun shop and the 4 SXP's they had in-stock on Saturday have all been sold! - a very popular gun. Looks like I'll have to wait a couple of weeks... andy198712
I smack my nose now and again, thought it was just bad mount but could be LOP I guess!
defender
I smack my nose now and again, thought it was just bad mount but could be LOP I guess! I've done that with my Mossberg, hit my nose with my thumb. Haven't mesured it but as far as I know its standard. Secondly what would you consider to be the best / most desirable gun, in case i go down that road when i win on the horses this weekend. thanks . I'm also left handed, no problems here. From the ejection point 99% of pumps eject to the right (I have seen a left handed Remington but only once!) I cant say I've ever had a problem with it. Most of the guns are pretty straight, not left or right hand biased, so no problem there either. My Benelli however is actually adjustable for left or right hand cast anyway. It's all good

ChAoS
Judging by his success on behalf of the OP of this thread: http://forums.pigeonwatch.co.uk/forums/index.php?/topic/239868-got-my-ithaca-37-pump-today/ It would appear that Wabbitbosher has the reputation of being able to get hold of whatever you want... sir jasper
Winchester SXP owners - I've read in a review that the SXP has an excessive drop at the comb; has anyone found it necessary to stick a comb raiser on the stock?
Wharf Rat
Has any one got any ideas how you tell the age of a Mossberg 600ast?? Also, can the 3 shot mag restriction be removed to turn it into an FAC 5 shot? Regards, Gixer Serial number will date it. New mag tube needed for FAC capacity. If you machine the crimp out you remove a lot of metal/strength. A wobbly/bent mag tube could follow if its given a good wack. True of other guns anyway. Shooting2
Hi guys, I have a pump, Escort Hatsan, Fieldhunter. Fantastic gun for everyday use in all weathers, never skipped a beat. Been using it for two years at least once a week and has probably had Over 10,000 shells through it, fantastic for on the marsh with 3" chamber and steel shot proof, great overall gun, definatley advise to get one
