  1. God I hate modern Land Rover products, I have an old one (40 yr old in late 2025) had it near 20 years, it's a toy really.😁 I work in the trade and dread getting them to work on, it's 15 miles to work and there's a garage less than a mile away, unfortunately a LR specialist 😆😝
  2. My hastings policy on my 2014 jazz has gone from £300 ish to £500 ish for no reason other than they wanted to make more money. I'm dreading my other 2 cars although they are specialist cover (old landy and MGF).
  3. I've had stuff ruined by duraleak and Kirkland Costco batteries, some of the Kirkland leaked in the packet with years of date left

    JAB

I had the Astra Zeneca one on Wednesday at 5.30pm felt tired and a bit off in the evening then got a fever and shivers all night and I was wiped out all next day at work. Got home went to bed at 7pm and stayed there mostly asleep till next morning and felt better. My next one will be on Saturday , if I get a choice, I'm in my mid 50's
  5. I had running problems and starting problems with my Mitox chain saw, fit a carb kit off ebay and it starts and runs easy. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Walbro-WA-WT-Carburettor-Carb-Diaphragm-Repair-Kit-C-W-Needle-Lever/201590648195?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649

    New to CB radio

19 was supposed to be mobile and 14 home base but it varied by area, now it seems to be single channel (19) with loads of power to get over each other and expensive amateur hf sets as a status symbol🙄

    New to CB radio

I've got loads of cb's and amateur radio gear (took exam in 1998) there are a few people on near me on cb some good, some bad I've been using it since the early 80's. I keep saying I won't buy anymore cb's but then one comes along that's cheap and there I go again I know phones are easier but I like radio.
  8. I can remember them from years ago, calipers seized, cam chains went, gearbox lost gears and then there's the rot. Not seen one in years till I went to Bulgaria.
  9. I like the ones that have a gun and it takes little rubber mushrooms https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Stop-Go-Vehicle-Car-Mushroom-Plug-Gun-Tyre-Puncture-Repair-Kit/254575619190?hash=item3b45e3ac76:g:jVEAAOSwpGpenwaZ
  10. I pay £6 at a turkish run place. Getting a bit bushy now, don't fancy a DIY no2 all over though just have to live with it😀
  11. Is that the old guy from "HOW"?
  12. Years ago when there were loads of people on almost any aerial would do, but nowadays people are few and far between so the bigger and higher the better. I've just restarted using cb, a couple of weeks before the lockdown I saw a rare cb on facebook so I grabbed it and I've been messing with that, I already had an outside aerial so it was just a case of getting the coax out and connecting it all back up. I've got a Shakespeare ABS-1600 which has been up for years, very robust, but not made anymore I think. Good place to start still doing mail order http://www.kcb.co.uk/contents/en-uk/d3_Base-Antennas.html
  13. I get over 200meg download but when my vpn is connected it drops to 80 some sites wont let you on with a vpn.
  14. I've got an 835 and a 500 .410 Hushpower
  15. I got one that said it was suitable for rim-fire and when I shot it it turned the targets spoon shaped. I got a refund and hammered them back flat between 2 large hammers and use them for airguns.
  16. I look on wish, then check eBay and its usually cheaper, sometimes a fair bit. Plus at least on eBay there's buyer protection because there's a lot of junk on wish.
  17. I'm sure it can only be mot exempt if it hasn't been modified yup all here https://assets.publishing.service.gov.uk/government/uploads/system/uploads/attachment_data/file/670431/vehicles-of-historical-interest-substantial-change-guidance.pdf
  18. Fixed, it was the gas valve after all, if it wasn't illegal to do so I could have done it but it was done professionally by a gas safe engineer.
  19. Yea I've read about new boilers not even managing to get to 10 yrs without requiring replacement whereas that one is over 30 yrs old and the whole system has needed 1 electric valve, 1 pump and a few thermocouples in it's life. Annoyingly if I'd done it myself it would have only been out of action for less than 2 days
  20. Yea I've done it before and it worked perfectly and just in case I put a co monitor in the boiler room and it was fine, but I'm not going to do it again. I think genuine ones are still available at 3 times the price of a universal one. He did say to me that the boiler is probably 40% efficient whereas modern boilers are up to 98% efficient.
  21. Not yet he had a look got the boiler parts number and says he is going to get a genuine thermocouple
  22. Thanks for that, I held it for so long my thumb had a gas flame imprint and let it go very slowly and it still went out. Fortunately I've found someone I know who is on the gas safe website and they are coming tomorrow and I cancelled the one mentioned above.
  23. Think I've got someone, it's been a nightmare so far with leaving voicemails and no one getting back to me and phones that ring and ring. What I need to know now is what can cause the pilot not to stay lit when I release the grey button to me it can only be thermocouple, gas valve or weak pilot light flame just in case they try to bamboozle me. Oh and how much is it to become gas safe?
