Cranfield
Has anyone updated to Internet Explorer 7 ? If so, are you having any problems yet ? According to some people its a nightmare.

apbuild
Tried IE7 and had all sorts of problems with shutting down, Outlook Express issues etc. Binned it for Firefox. Rob.

Dunkield
I am using to write this, and it seems fine to me, mind you I don't use Outlook Express so may help. It may be it was origianlly designed to run with Vista, the PC I am using is running that, I haven't tried it with XP yet. As I am at Microsoft today, I will pass your feedback on to Bill for you
Baldrick
I'd gladly transfer to Firefox from IE7, but can anyone tell me whether Hotmail can be set to default to another (non-IE) browser. I realise that it's Microsoft defaulting to Microsoft, but is there any solution?
pin
Hotmail works fine in Firefox, to be honest I would ditch that and use gmail if I were you, shout if you want an invite.
Baldrick
I use Gmail regularly, Pin, but sadly the cretins that I work with use MSN Messenger as the unofficial communications system in the office.
pin
Ah, when you said hotmail did you mean messanger? Windows, despite not liking it, has to default to another browser if you so wish it
Baldrick
Sorry Pin, I wasn't clear. I use both Messenger and Hotmail. Having previously used Firefox, the only thing that irritated me was not being able to completely eradicate IE without losing Messenger. al4x
my hotmail works fine with Maxthon. I had IE7 installed for an hour and hated it, it played havoc with the screen resolution on both IE and Maxthon, Uninstalled it and it was fine
Baldrick
I've never heard of Maxthon...
al4x
www.maxthon.com its just another free tabbed browser. A big improvement over IE and I have to say I prefer it to firefox
Baldrick
I will check out Maxthon when I am safely ensconced behind my PC at home later. We're still running Windows 2000 at work on our steam-powered PCs, so there's little hope of our backward IT department graciously allowing me to use Maxthon/Firefox here. crowstopper
I have had IE 7 installed for ages at Beta on a laptop and find it ok, i have not had any real problems other then it being very slow to open when u first load it. I also have firefox and use that just as much. Only thing i have found with it is it sometimes does not like logging in to some websites where they allow you to stay logged in and keeps kicking you out. I also use IE 6 on this PC at the moment and thats fine. Will probable stick with IE and have firefox on as well. IE 7 is ok but not worth the bother yet. Mind you IE 7 does have some good security features about checking sites are what they say they are and not fakes so you don't enter you password in them. Baldrick
Having Vista, or even XP, would be a godsend at work. However that would require the Ginsters-munching numpties in the basement to actually do something. Which is a tall order. Why is it that people in IT departments are either exceptionally talented, dependable and respected, OR brain-dead urchins? No middle ground? white fox
We use Mambo for a couple of our sites, seems IE7 is not able to display some Mambo and Joomla sites properly, there is outcry on the Mambo forums. The only solution is to rollback to IE6, or has been said already, use Firefox. WF
pin
Which is really **** as they are fully compliant Just so people know I am not completely anti-microsoft, but where there is a better alternative I will happily try and show people the way
