chrisjpainter
Any that is over 10ft/lb and shoots straight fella. kyska's right, there's not really much more that needs to be said! If you are shooting a lot in one session, a multishot PCP might be useful, but more expensive. If you're just taking the odd one or two to keep numbers down then a springer will be far cheaper both in the long and short run! But any full power accurate rifle will do the job quite well enough. secretagentmole
A springer can be a hindrance, the mechanism noise can cause flocks to take flight when roost shooting. A silenced PCP will let you shoot two off the same branch, I know. I did!
bullet boy
All what of the Gents have said above is good advice. There are many good PCP rifles on the market today that will meet your Pigeon Shooting needs! ATVB.
GingerCat
What ever is in your budget and over 10ftlbs. A good Springer won't let you go far wrong and I've never scared flocks of pigeons with mine, just given a few a one way ticket to my freezer. NIGHT SEARCHER
All of the above some very good advice but shooting at 40 yds you would need a very good quality springer to be Accurate. Like an HW--57--77--80--97--99. Bsa Superstar. Goldstar. The HW 97 KT is outstanding for a springer. Have a look at some of Si Pittaways vids on YOU TUBE. He shoots PCP and Springers. Has already said a multishot PCP would be best. I shoot a lot of crows and with a springer or a PCP with a poor Silencer one shot and the sky turns black has they all take off. But a PCP with a logun or HW Silencer and it`s almost silent. Like a mouse passing wind. So a PCP with a 10 shot mag and a good Silencer you can drop them by the dozen. Have a look on GUN-WATCH. GUNSTAR. GUN TRADER. You will find loads on gunstar. You are looking at £200 to £300 for a good S/H PCP. And a S/H pump or Bottle for around £80. The Ghost
The HW 97 KT is outstanding for a springer I asked the same a while back and settled for the above the build quality is stunning. Just love it, took about 50 shots to get used to the gun all on targets. Once happy with it took it in the field. I have used it for Rats, Rabbit & Pigeon...kills them all no problem. Love this on a roost if by my self, all I shoot is wood with the 12g lol

lakeside1000
I have the Air Arms S400 single shot .177 pcp. great accurate gun up to 50 yards and beyond, my friend has the AA S410 10 shot which is better in the dark for bunnies, no fiddling with pellets, but we both love them and would recommend them to anyone. Brilliant, buy a nice 97 with a stainless action, bling bling, glint in sunlight, all you will be left to shoot is a cloud of dust and loose feathers! Ultra is OK if you can get used to the hokey cokey cocking action, a single action such as a side lever or bolt is better than the mk 1 Ultra press, push and then pull to fire! Do not use a shiny finish for a hunting rifle as you will be signalling your location to whatever you are trying to hunt! The highly modified Ultra was rear bolt action with a longer barrel & air tube. £250 The HW 97 KT You can soon camo tape it or camo scrim it. And being Stainless no worries about getting it wet when hunting in the rain. Most of the gun is black anyway and the stainless is a matt finish. A 97 KT for £320. It was only to give the member some idea anyway. Edited February 28, 2013 by NIGHT SEARCHER
secretagentmole
Ah right, might have been an idea to say camo tape it, scrim won't really work as you need to cover all the reflective areas. Anyway enough nit picking over the details, the 97 KT is a very good underlever!
Salop Matt
My recomendation would be a . 177 multishot PCP, because pcp`s are easier and quicker to shoot, .177 because its more forgiving at range esimation and multi-shot because if you miss PCP`s are so quiet your likely to get a second shot and follow up shots are easyr ! S300 for longer range work and S410 carbine for stalking in woods etc. In opinion you wont go wrong with any of the latest pcps BUT do get a good silencer, my AA silencer on S410 is not very good to say the least, Hope you enjoy whatever you choose.
