billytheghillie
does a bird of prey decoy bring in the crows?
TJ91
If placed near a rookery they may dive at it. Never had much success with them myself. A few crow decoys in the right place do the job.

Frenchieboy
When I had and was flying my Harris Hawks they were for ever getting "mobbed" by crows, so in theory using a Bird Of Prey Decoy should bring crows in for shooting. I once bought one of the large plastic owls off "the bay" and tried it several times but never had much luck with it. I have to say that the one that I got (a large owl type about 15 inches high) was rather plastic looking and wondered if the crows could spot the difference between that and one with real feathers on it. Maybe a stuffed and mounted Bird Of Prey would have worked better! Another thing that I have heard of but never tried as a crow decoy is a stuffed fox, which is said to bring crows in quite well, especially if you place a dead crow by it to look as if it is eating it close to a hedge or under a tree. It would be interesting to hear from anyone that has had any degree of success with a BOP decoy or a stuffed fox and how they set it up! B725
I have used a dead fox I shot it the same morning as I went crow shooting,it was made to look if it was going towards the decoys and the crows and rooks went mental at it.They where so focused on it as the shooting never bothered them,I am still looking for a very cheap stuffed fox. CZ550Kevlar
It's amazing really the amount of foxes we all shoot and we can't find a stuffed one. can you put just a fox out or do you need crow decoys too?
B725
Finding a fox is not a problem, but a cheap one is and yes the fox was made to look as if it was heading towards the decoys.I have never used a fox on its own but I think if the crows where flying over they would mob it. marc147
It may well have been a wind up but someone told me a kids bright fluffy toy works. I have not tried this I was too worried it is a wind up and someone would see me and think I was a nutter in a field with a gun and a teddy bear. Hmmmmmmm
