She is not under the doctor for any illness or any thing mainly because it is all most impossible to get her to go, she comes from a, it will heal its self generation, can i just call them and explain or is there shed loads of forms for me to fill in. Thanks Chris
HDAV
Jury duty is very important to the Brittish legal system why doesn't she write a letter explaining about the forms and hassle of transport etc They may excuse her... https://www.gov.uk/j...ervice/overview You can normally claim for: travel lunch and refreshments loss of earnings and other expenses - eg employing a child-minder or carer (outside your usual care arrangements) Financial support and benefits (like Jobseeker’s Allowance) are unaffected for the first 8 weeks while on jury service. There’s a maximum daily amount you can claim each day for loss of earnings and other expenses. Edited March 11, 2013 by HDAV
countryman
Any letter would have to come from me and i do not know if that would be expectable. i thought there used to be an age limit for this. Joe99
Medical exemption is her only option really - get her down to the GP and get a note saying she can't do it, nerves or whatever.
Asa Bear
I'm pretty sure you can ask to be excused if over the age of 70. Just ring them & explain.

TrapFiller
Put "jury service direct gov" in on google and it gives you age requirements and how you can be dismissed from it.

countryman
Looks like the government are trying to save on paying younger people expenses, so they get older people in, all very well if there up to it, if my mum goes it will be a miss trial for sure. bouncer
she will have to have one hell of a reason not to do it.so i would think she will have to do it.
sitsinhedges
Maybe if they want people to turn up they should raise the pittance they are paying. £65 per day in lieu of your normal wages is a disgrace, bet the judge is on that per hour,. Will Poon
It's my job that I do as I'm the only one that can do it within the business , so if I wasn't there, about 6 staff couldn't work , sorry to be abit vague on my response
Thunderbird
You only get something like £55 a day loss of earnings which is a bit poop too. It does go up if it goes past two weeks IIRC. I got off it once when I was a student and exams were on.
HDAV
The Other Half has done it twice and both times was paid by as normal by work. Willpoon you must work in a very odd capacity if you are off work for 2 weeks and 6 people have nothing to do imagine what would happen if you went on holiday, or were ill, i mean break a leg, bad back etc and were off for 6+ weeks the whole firm would collapse....... If you were ever on trial who would you want on your Jury 12 OAPs? 12 Jobseekers (who have been seeking jobs for 10+ years), 12 Stay at home mothers?
