Lord Geordie
Personally I would go for the water based satinwoods
Paddy Galore!
dulux have changed the recipe mate, it stays white now, water based can be a pita if doing a large area as it dries too quick, although you can get a retardant for them, this was most useful when we did M&S a few years back, all the paint had to be w/b dulux, we had 30 secs to do a door face before it'd dry. shaun4860
avoid oil based as its the oil in the paint that causes discolouration Friend of mine owns a paint shop and we had this very conversation on Friday, yes water based dries quicker but doesn't discolour and you can wash your brushes under the tap. Del T
We used some crown paint when refurbishing a investment property only for it to turn bright yellow after only a few weeks. It went really bad in the darker areas and just yellow in the bright areas! We pyt a claim in as a whole house had been painted,3 bed semi with 12 doors! Got refunded the paint costs and some time. Will only use water based paint now! Scully
All oil based(solvent) paints 'yellow' in time. It's the lack of natural sunlight which causes it,which is why exteriors may crack and peel in time, but never 'yellow'.Water based paints will avoid this but you have to be quick to avoid 'dragging' as it goes off sharpish. Fisheruk
Personally I would go for the water based satinwoods I agree, all manufacturers have had to change their solvent based products which means they are prone to yellowing. The water based products are now best for not yellowing.
