Gordon R
I bought my grandson a 20 bore Hatsan, from a smashing lad in Selby. It has a plastic stock and forend. As it was too long for my grandson, I cut the stock down. I got hold of a Franchi Hunter stock, which was a bit knocked about, but fits very well, with very little modification. I wanted a full size spare for when he gets older - thinking of making it adjustable. The Franchi stock is wood - and not very good wood at that. The plastic stock and forend had a few scratches, so I thought I would refinish the lot in the same finish. I elected for Plastikote stone finish. never used the stuff before, but a swift clean, quick primer coat and ready for the finish. It might not be to everyone's taste, but it looks fine to me and my grandson is over the moon.

moor man
Very nice looking job, whats the paint like to work with and how tough is it? Did you seal it with anything? I was thinking of doing the same Interested in how you will modify the franchi stock to make it adjustable? How easy will the new finish be to clean? I know my semiauto gets pretty grubby. Well done on the paint job, hes a lucky lad! Edited August 20, 2013 by moor man
demonwolf444
I like it, not many young lads can boast a custom gun! Nice job, hope your lad enjoys many a happy outing with it.
Gordon R
Just noticed the latest posts. I haven't sealed it, but a coat of Clearcote would do the job. It seems to wipe clean easily enough. The paint was a doddle - much easier than I expected. Couple of thin coats - soon builds up. The Franchi stock is wood, so straightforward slice off the comb and fit a Gracoil comb adjuster.
