stoogey
regaurding missing, you must have heard a few people say it isnt a matter of how far you can hit, its how far it will kill properly? i think we've gone past the angry angry yu cant do thats now, surley? (especialy as theres other facts to hand now, and versions and reasons and ethics and and and angergy angery angry shouty shouty..) it's down to two things, your skill leval, and if the guns up to it..anything more on that bit is just saying i'm good your not..theres a maximum range the thing will kill at, this is dependant (after skill) on the gun set up.(its why folks folk out a couple three odd grand on a gun and get it fettled at the best gunsmith). the responcability is for each individual to 'realise' by knowing them selves well enought and ***** what they are actualy capeable of, as well as knowing their tackle enogh to realise what it can do to. (your mates is different...) to add more to the 'skill thing' a gun sight is only an 'aid' to shooting btw, thats how they were first introduced a long time ago, remember that a muskit didnt have a stock on at all at one time, it was added so you could club the enamy when they got to close to reloid. and the point...they were taking doves out of the air........no sight no stock, guys with bows and cross bows were doing that..guys with bricks were doing it back in the good cave man days lols..well i wasnt there at the time so only presume it to make a point lol. so basically, the average couldnt do it, but then there was that bloke doing it all the time, and every shouting him down because 'you cant do that'.(yes he could or did or was doing) the point of responcability already coverd..its skill and self awairnes with a big old will the gun do it. now then, if your a magasine, lets say an airgun mag, or a coach, or a trainer 'applying to the masses' (of beginners) blah blah, and ermmm..your getting asked by people who wont hear any thing else 'what range to shoot at'........well.. 30 yards int it, usualy with an added 'if you can do it' (because as a responcablity in 'training folks, you cant say well one man in 1845 could fry gnat ghoolies blind folded there fore you can wong off lead at any thing you wants to). if your zero'ing with a group, i.e. at least the majority arnt clover leafing then your 'reasonable options' are to reduce your range untill you one hole, then incrase that one hole groups distance with time and effert put in, when you cant get a 1 hole thing going at all..summuts rong these days, the pellets the gun..your grip..etc. (this is the 'extreme' of it guys n gals) you can only get as good as your understanding, and of course the time and effert (dedicasion) you put in. using the the kill curcle thing..yes it works, e.g. a 1 inch kill grouping..works ok out to what? 30 yards? the smaller the group the further that '30 yards' is, things start opening up after it..because you or/and the gun arnt quite shooting up the straight n narrow...its in thous of an inch yeh? so if the grouping are getting a bit large its getting a bit yu know big assed three out 5 hits...couple more yards out ooo sudenly you hit the odd one wing a few.........then gob **** it at any one that can do better? wheres yu pellet at? yu cant hit at all at the 'available' ranges unless yu know lol.(only the ones in the set perameters of your 'grouping'.) The hint, the only hint here is..find the guns true line..and get on that 'true' and suddenly theres a whole new conversasion about to open up. next time someone asks whats safe or responcble... try not to give a one liner god like act answer lol.. its what is skill leval and what the gun is like...from there..advise.( your on your own out shooting, you pulled the trigger, it IS your fault! so fu god sakes deal with yu self lolol) the fabled 'feild craft' speach.....yeh yu can actualy yomp on up to a rabbit and hit it with a stick, i care not if you beleive it or not, most of us will have all but stepped on one at some time, so yeh you can..(i've actually p!!ssed on one, and..you shoulda seen the look on his face!! hahaha) .few and far between like, untill you 'see it on telly', the one where the survival 'exspert' starts teaching the others how to do it..etc etc. some days i 'have' past tense, over a 30 year period..lol done some really hot stuff..on a good day, on a bad day, i have packed up and gone home! i learned by buying a gun of some guy, took months pay of the 100 quid...from there i stuck it out and tried ******* everything to hit anything...had a couple three pointers from people who really knew, from there things looked up very nicely ty. (the gun was perfic btw..every thread locked just there..etc etc..it had an edge for sure or sure, but i started with a gat!! ffffff best way to learn how rubbish a gun is, buy a gat and cheepest ammo). eventualy i lived and breathed it, day and night and what ever, both some days, slept, shagged and ate and shot inbetween, NOTHING ELSE!! would you beleive i have a clue? lmao!! yeh that was sarky, but, only in humour guys com on lol...when your humours gone life gets sh!!tty bad dunt it. the major negativity in all of that 30 yers is litening to fanitical idiots convincing me i cant do some thing i was doing daily and nightly and in my sleep and dreams no doubts.(fo those jumping on the assumption wagon..my feild craft does lack sometimes, but when you have a 60 yard kill zone..or the other way round, on those really hard to get a look in spots..i got regular where some really hot 'feild craft' guys didnt...and ermmm in the ego 'who's the best' turms..i was/am no where near btw) after the gun, its all 'where your heads at'.............thats whats getted attacked, your head your mind...well, you can do it!!! if you do it right!! the average next faise to realising is a load of self doubt, 'how?' and 'i carnt not do it'..all negative learning curves, the hint here is find the posative route, much more rewarding, try it, give it time, if its not working find the way that does FOR YOU YOURSELF. (end of the day your all, or we all are trying to get the best out of the time and kit available yes?) any one ever been devorsed? had a loss..it feels like that when you cant go shooting...when its months or years, you lose some retain some skill levals, coming back to shooting again knowing what was, or could be...then having to go through it all gain, that long winded learning curve...with 'you cant do that, no way your your talking poop..' it's all attempting to distroy the truth? with out it you have lies and nothing...which shows up later as a 30 yard maximum range at times lol. (this aint no attack anyones abilities btw, its a thing that hinders every one in every walk of life). du dahhh..theres the real 'realistic' truth, what can be stolen from you before you know you have it. the bottom line is i may, or may not get out shooting this year...might!! it is a posability that may never get out to shoot again, seriously...ill health. (its like a divorse or bereivement going on and and on and on and on....might be dead might not is it just a dream noooo its still here blah blu blah blah). i've offered my 'knowladge'ranging from a kid being an idiot with very good results to an adult whobothred to studdy the wild life as he went, numbers and effects, to a narner 'walt' with a chrono who's more intrested in consistancy and shot place over power any day of the week..if you can hit it 'there' then you missed it, no matter how big yu willy extension is lol. note theres loads of 'lols' in there...there to indicate non malice, or more to lighten up..like humour implicated lol. so there it is, sort of a walt, no armed services bar 2 cadet visits as an 11 year old...sort of a dying airgun walt that actualy did it, lived it, and loved it, then had it all taken away 4 times to date....i'm very patient, but it does get to me eventualy. (the word eventualy is accurate and applicable). although, i've bin on some tablets to help me...and the cartoon porn version of the 'walt' was definatly more applcable lmao!! serious side effects lol.(binned um..) last time i went out was 16 odd month go, an hours worth, i zero'd, had a plink about and had a heart breaking moment of 'f@ck! 40 yard max leaning on summut...4 shots, 4 pigions..3 were at the 45 yard mark, but, only because i knew at that moment where 'it all was'..but for now, for me, it's a case of lost it again..got to go through all the time in stuff again...awww shame innit lol..sh!t surely does happen.. try camping it for 3-4 days at a time.. eat shoot sleep shoot.. picks yu leval up really good.(i'd advise to any one who wants to meet themselves and live n learn..or go plop in that horrable self realisasion moment lol eather way..dont give up, a tactical retreat can at times actualy help but dont give up). if you cant get the time to do it then my honest condolences... i was very lucky. ....................... the tragectry on the scope at 200 yards? awww didnt watch cuberlycat/ snypercats clip i put up? its an open end question that asumes you have zero'd the same as every one else.. its way 'off' the scope and beyond lol...thats why she shimmed up the scope for the range she was shooting at, and showed it in the clip, its a fair old wodgey in there lol.(hmm theres a few vid clips well worthy of watch btw...she is a shooter for sure.) you've got to go with what you got...and what you know... but dont close your minds off to 'posabilies'. (think about it? it is a distinct posability some one else is capable, the one thing i have learned though..i'll keep it where it should be from now on, to myself lol because obviously th erealistic version is theres a whole lod of noddies out there rairing to go at it in some gung ho way or other...untill they learn that is). -Mongrel-
I cannot believe this is still going! People. out friend Stoogey is a fantasist. If he was as good as his stories, he would be a world class shooter in whatever discipline he fancied. Aim points that are "off the scope", really? Does anybody actually believe that's possible? Go to the bottom of the reticle and then " lift a bit, lift a bit, that'll do!"! **** off! It's BS simple as that. Don't care how much experience our Walt claims to have, or what he claims he can or can't do, it's BS. We have had the 40 yard challenge, and as was proved, that's definitely possible by a competent shot. But any experienced shooter knows there are limits. I have shot a rabbit cleanly at 62 measured yards, but it was in perfect conditions. A slight breeze or misformed pellet could have made a difference, added to which I misjudged the range and got a bit lucky! That's the crux of it. No matter how good you or your gun is...external conditions will rarely allow you solid consistency and as such a responsible shot shouldn't take the shot. My personal max is 50 yards in good conditions, much less in wind, the 62 yarder was in mist which is why I misjudged it. Anything else is willy waving at best and a complete lack of respect for your quarry at worst.
poguemahone
i think the 84 yard brigade will always be the 84 yard brigade. each shooter should determine his own max hunting range by firing 10 bench rested shots at an 18mm kill zone. get all 10 shots in, keep moving the target 5 yds further out until you fail, simple. when you've established your absolute maximum hunting range, its worth noting that out in the field, you'll more than likely be shooting under less than ideal conditions, and probably wont be shooting bench rested either, so your range would/should be reduced accordingly. also worth noting that the 18mm kill zone is for an adult rabbit, so if you're shooting 1/2 grown rabbits, or head shots on birds, then your kill zone would be about 12mm. be interesting to hear what other shooters, honest maximum hunting ranges are. many long range superhero's will fail well before the 84 yd mark, but they'll still shoot live quarry at 84 yds. they'll just argue their case for a 40-50mm kill zone instead of 18mm
stoogey
today as i am..40 yard (and perhaps 45 if if i'm on it lol..). later after a shed load of auto reflexing..depends what i'm up to. (70 is in the silly zone on rabbits). poguemanhone has the right idia, but to go for gold and test pellet quolity move closer first and find that proper 1 hole group and chaise that out a few yards at a time..worth a try, takes the same time to 'master' as larger groups, so whats to lose?
