bostonmick
Has anyone else had this experience I called the local dealer to get a price on the 692 and was given 2570.00 yet two days later it was 2795 when I asked why I was told all Beretta prices had gone up on the first of may surely Beretta can't be that stupid to up the price within a week of its launch.the space in my cabinet will stay at least until a few appear second hand. fruity
Supply and demand, they seam to be in short supply at the moment, ( well that's what I have found looking for one) so a chance to make a few extra pounds

aris
I'm sure the SP1 didn't have a starting price of £1600 a few weeks ago. Has everything gone up?
Twistedsanity
Yep, I was told a few months back when I got my silver pig they were all going up in price
Beretta06
Beretta increase their prices every year - one of the reasons their second hand market prices are so good.
shootingmike
It's disgusting. I've been looking at A300's because they're so well priced, but was told the other day by a gunshop that the prices are goin up 7 %. This now puts them above £800. Crazy business sense when the economy is in such a state and people are supposedly not spending on luxury items.

I don't think Beretta and or GMK are STUPID at all! They make and import some very good products and charge a fair price. As has been said the secondhand prices reflect the quality and longevity of the mark.
HDAV
Also beretta are a big euroland based manufacturer..... Eurozone in the shwip and rates for everything has gone up.......... Not stupid its a fact of life... Inflation and all that....The harder times mean fewer people will buy on a whim and then sell so second hand ones may be a short supply for sometime.... deadeyedic
GMK have had to put their prices up because the pound has weakened against the euro. Worth ringing another dealer as they might of bought the gun at a lower price and be able to do you a deal.
bostonmick
I suppose my main point was if you bring a new model onto the market a couple of weeks before your annual price hike set the price at the now new price there is a shortage of these guns as is to be expected so it is bad pr to up the price on something you cannot get hold of.be interesting to see if they become more available now.i am a lifelong Beretta user and shoot nothing else and can't see that changing but just thought this was strange thing for them to do. Fuji Shooter
Crazy business sense when the economy is in such a state and people are supposedly not spending on luxury items. You would think so but my FIL has just ordered a new Audi Q7 and got zero discount. The Audi garage told him they can sell more then they are allocated and where happy for him to walk when he asked for a deal.
aris
A German colleague of mine is buying a Q5 - he was aghast that they were actually cheaper in the UK than in Germany. It's all supply and demand.

Worth ringing another dealer as they might of bought the gun at a lower price and be able to do you a deal. It has nothing to do with the strength of the pound, or GMK. EVERY year, Beretta raise their prices by between 4 and 8%. All GMK are doing is reflecting that rise in their prices. Did you expect GMK to pay the increase?? It just doesn't work like that I'm afraid.
ChrisAsh
They spend a massive budget in Marketing and have a massive amount of people on this and other forums telling everyone to only buy Beretta's and Browning's and this in turn make them easy to sell and therefore easy to raise their prices. There are many, many other good guns around some cheaper than these and others more expensive, most will admit at least to themselves that both makes have their problems like any other make and priced at the higher end of the lower to middle priced guns (without including the silly priced guns) With Cars you don't see this sort of selling on behalf of their own make they brought, it just appears to be these two makes, and nothing at all from the Blasers , Kriegoghoff or Perazzi. Reminds me of the old saying "Quality does not need constant advertising" Mine I will not say but most makes would have been within my budget, if I wanted them Edited May 2, 2013 by ChrisAsh
Twistedsanity
i have a new silver pig and a wibbly snott 900 and you don't need to know anything about guns to see where the extra money goes, i can still see the pig being around in 20 years but i doubt the wibbly will make 1/4 of that time

TIGHTCHOKE
My budget is what I like I have a so5.asel and a pair of 687eell.the point of this post seems to have been lost on some was the price quoted before hitting the shops was a couple or hundred less than when they did arrive. Yes, I quite agree, maybe some didn't notice the OP calling Beretta stupid for its pricing policy either!
Beretta06
Yes, I quite agree, maybe some didn't notice the OP calling Beretta stupid for its pricing policy either! I think the standard tag line is 'prices correct at time of going to print'. My budget is what I like I have a so5.asel and a pair of 687eell.the point of this post seems to have been lost on some was the price quoted before hitting the shops was a couple or hundred less than when they did arrive. Ohh! Is it going to be a 'who has the most expensive Beretta contest'?

chesterse
There does not seem to be a shortage of the 692 30" sporter, just counted 15 on Gun Trader alone. Also Orston Shooting ground have had one in for about two weeks at £2595!
