hi all

took my 3yr old staffy to the vets at 6am today as she couldn't walk.

walks in carrying said hound vet does a few checks 20mins later dog put to sleep GUTTED.

she had burst her disks in her spine and this had crushed her cord, all ok one minute couldn't walk the next.

we asked the vet what could have done this, why this has happened,

all the vet said was that staff's are so over bred to get a certain looking dog and that's just for our benefit and no good for the dogs.

this is going to be one **** day.

Sad news that.

Not being hard hearted but get down the dog pound as there are a lot of staffies looking for a bloke like you with a staffy shaped hole in his life!

+1

Sorry for you. That's a tough break. Really resent the breeding that affects a breed's health. In laws have a Boston Terrier with breathing problems.

I've also heard the dog homes are full of Staffies. The only problem are the animals they've been brought up with/by

Really really sorry for your loss mate, we've got two rescue staffy's both were in appalling states when we got them from the RSPCA concentration camp. Both have turned out to be more than we could of ever hoped for and are the most rewarding breed to own. As the chap above says get down the rescue center and have a look, and don't think of it as replacing your old dog but distracting yourself from the loss of it. Pick the quietest dog you can too.

Chin up mate
