Beardo
Now i've always been of the mind that rounded pellets are more accurate due to dynamics, but... i had to rezero my HW100S yesterday (not sure why, possibly something to do with removing the air cyclinder). I came across an old tin of RWS Superpoint Extra (14.5gr) pellets and thought i'd try them once i'd rezeroed with Accupels (14.3gr) (which is what i normally use), - Now Accupels have always shot well, it'll happily shoot less than 2cm groups at 40 yards all day. I tried the RWS and they made a weird wizzing sound when fired, but the group tightened up to less than 1cm. Accupels on the left, RWS Superpoint Extra on the right at 40 yards (5 shots)

Had that before on the pointed, seems more in cold/damp weather, sort of a vrooom noise, anyway, groups never been great in mine! Let us know how you get on; I think I'm a bit prejudiced against the pointed fellas, so if someone can prove me wrong, that would be worth seeing! Dekers
Let us know how you get on; I think we're all a bit prejudiced against the pointed fellas, so if someone can prove us all wrong, that would be worth seeing! I'm not quite following that, Pointed do not/did not work in my Airsporter, BSA Ultra, BSA Lightning, HW 80, Daystate Huntsman, Falcon FN19, as well as domed. I'm very happy for anyone who gets on well with these but simply because they may work in someones rifle doesn't proove anyone wrong! I'll edit that; it will prove ME wrong - who tried two types and then forgot about them and stuck with Domed ones!

masmiffy
Can remember using BSA huntsman pointed in my Titan Manitou years ago and they were spot on! Now use FX or Air Arms field they also work ok. Think its what you are happy with and shoot well with.
garden gun
Had trouble bringing down feather with my Gamo Magnum, spoke to the RFD that sold me the rifle at the next CLA Game Fair. He recommended adding RWS Superpoints to the pellet selection. Never looked back. Dome(RWS) for fur and points for feather. Looking at posts for this topic - horses for courses. Beardo
I guess consistency of pellet plays a large part and RWS pellets have always been known for the quality and consistency
Malik
RWS pellets have always been known for the quality and consistency Because its German! They dont mess about lol. I have definitely noticed pellets fit more snug when loading and groupings are noticeably better

Blunderbuss
So why do I struggle to hit a Barn Door at 10 Yards with my RWS Hollow Point pellets? What are you like against a cow's ***** with a banjo? A Teutonic banjo, obviously.
NIGHT SEARCHER
I use a lot of Hollow points BSA Interceptors and they are very good at short range. I do a lot of Vermin control on pig farms shooting Rats. And at 20 to 30 yds Hollow points are accurate and very hard hitting. For 30 to 50 yds shots I use depending on which PCP I am using. RWS Superdomes or Superfields. Verminpell. Bisley Magnums. Crosman Premier Ultra Magnums.
goodo123
Never done any good with accupel, found them inconsistent. Rws seem to be made loads better and mine love em!, I often use the h points with good results. I found at the range pointed one's are just as accurate but not outside... May be affected more by wind I guess. I think I'm going to stick with rws from now on.
Beardo
tried some AA field diablos yesterday and they were rubbish in my HW100S. i'll try the RWS at a longer range today and see what they group like.
NIGHT SEARCHER
To find a pellet that works well in your barrel try www.pelletperfect.co.uk. You can buy sample pacts of 25 pellets for around £1 plus you can have a good look at the pellets. Good luck.

Beardo
60 yards - 1" group and i was wobbling around a bit on a plastic table - reckon i could tighten that up - i'll setup a decent bench and properly test them against the accupels when i get a mo. FalconFN
I always assumed pointed pellets were no good for hunting as they over penetrate and don't deliver maximum energy, but accuracy in king with air rifles so pointed, domed, flat or whatever, if they hit where you want you are laughing. I doubt it's too much of a problem using a .22 but .177 pointed pellets may zip through. I'd rather hunt with a pellet that delivers loads of energy which is why I switched to JSBs from Bisley Magnums, but ideally I'd like to find a flat head that is as accurate in my rifle. henry d
...but ideally I'd like to find a flat head that is as accurate in my rifle. I have never tried pointed so cannot comment. but Hobby pellets work well in my HW 35 as do domes and HP`s....
Clubshot
There is Pointed or Ogives from Pax which is a Bullet Head - Was a recent write up in Air Gun Shooter Must be good as aware Factory has them on a regualr production Run BOB/R
srspower
I use webley powerpells all the time, I guess you could say they were half way between pointed and domed as it is more of a bullet sort of point than a needle point. However I find them to be every bit as accurate as accupells in my air arms s310 and they do offer that little bit more penetration shooting birds.
